Wow what a week
Alright I am going to just state that I am going to be making this a long entry instead of making each day. This site wasn't around and if it was back then I wouldn't have had the time to enter all we did so I am going to condense what we did all week in Honolulu to just one page, so bare with me as it is going to be long.
Day 1. Bob and I …
The story so far ...
OK, I've been a bit slack about daily entries of where when what etc so here's an abbreviated version to get us from Perth to Denver. I'll try to be a bit more dedicated in future but there's absolutely no guarantee. ===== sun sep 7 - perth to sydney Left around lunchtime and arrived Sydney around 6pm, Hotel was just near the southern end of the …

Pearl Harbor and Cheesecake!
Today I think B thought he had gone to heaven and died - a full day at Pearl Harbor, American Hot Dogs, topped off with Cheesecake from the Cheesecake Factory.
We had an early start this morning, from what we have heard this is necessary if you want to visit the Arizona Memorial at a reasonable time! Words can not describe how moving being …
Believe it or not, today I relaxed!
Aloha!
Today has been a nice relaxing day, taking in the sites and advantage of the strong Australian dollar!
After breakfast at Dukes we strolled along Waikiki Beach. The water was beautiful and warm, but there were a lot of people on the beach. We did not go for a swim today, we will do that tomorrow, B did get a little wet …

TravelPod Member ReviewsOutrigger Waikiki on the Beach Honolulu
The Outrigger Waikiki on the the Beach was an amazing stay. I especially liked the outrageously beautiful view from my ocean front suite and how clean and neat the suite was when i arrived!

Historical Traveler Reviews Outrigger Waikiki on the Beach Honolulu
Gets better every time we stay here
This was our 6th stay at the Waikiki Outrigger on the Beach going back to 1975! This hotel gets better and better every time. Dukes breakfast and lunch buffet is very reasonably priced and you can't beat the view and the atmosphere. The staff everywhere was very helpful. We stayed there 4 years ago and thought the room was great then. The recent renovations are even nicer. Although they are still renovating the lower floors, we didn't experience any noise in the other common areas.
We were on the 9th floor. Elevators were often crowded, but if you don't have a large party you should be ok. Great coffee every morning at Seattle'e Best and then out to the beach to watch the sunrise (well you can't actually see the sun rise but it's a great time to be on the beach). This only works for the first couple of days if you're still on Mainland time. The property is not huge so getting out to the best beach in Waikiki is only a few steps. Absolutely the best value for the money. This is our home in Waikiki!
Loved the location
For the most part this hotel was exceptional. The location is the best!
It's right across the street from the internatioanl market place. It's walking distance to all shopping. Make sure you get a remodeled room, which I believe is the 10th & 12th floors. When I checked in, they issued me a room on the 3rd floor and told me it was a renovated room.
When I walked in, it was horrible looking. It looked worse than a Motel 8, with outdated furniture. I immediately called the front desk to request another room that was remodeled, however I had to wait until the following day due to availablity. The next morning I was switched to the 12th floor, and the difference is noticeable. Other than that, I had no complaints. Staff is very attentive and friendly. If I ever return to Honolulu, I'll definitely consider staying there again!
Great hotel!!
Stayed from 6/12/03 to 6/18/03. This hotel has it all. We had a cheap room with a million dollar view(it was a city view, however we where on the very end so we also had beach view). Very clean and the service was great. Loved the shops and Duke's was a blast. This is a hotel is a must stay at.
Outrigger on The Reef No1
In May this year my wife and I had one of the most memorable vacations ever. From the time we checked in to the Outrigger on The Reef, we saw and met nothing but smiling, friendly, helpfull staff. Before leaving Australia I read some of the reviews on this page and thought what have I done!!!. But let me asure you that I would not stay anywhere else whilst in Waikiki. Whilst our room was small the view from the balcony made up for this. The Shore Bird Inn is the best, great food great drinks and great staff, I can't believe that I read complaints about this restaurant. I can't wait for my next vacation I'm going back. Thanks for a great time Outrigger
Excellent Hotel
This is a GREAT hotel. Excellent location (the middle of everything) on the best part of Waikiki Beach. The staff and service could not better and the rooms are extremely nice. I have stayed there many times and will continue to do so when I am on Oahu.
Great hotel!
Stayed there May 21- 26, 2003. Our rooms were recently renovated and looked great! Also we like the fact that the hotel was right on the beach and right in the center of the Waikiki action. Duke's resturant was wonderful too! Staff was first rate as well. We'll stay there again!
The Best Hotel
This last trip was my 3rd time staying at The Outrigger Waikiki On The Beach and I plan on staying there many more times. Everyone is extremely friendly and helpful. The restaurants are great. Things at this hotel are not as expensive as you would think a hotel on the beach would be. All in all it is just a great place to stay and it is right in the heart of Waikiki and right across the street from the International Marketplace. Two thumbs up!
Loves the outrigger waikiki
We stayed at the Outrigger Waikiki and absolutely loved it. I took my mom, son, and niece. They all had a ball. My son lived in the pool and they loved Duke's. The room had a partial ocean view and we loved sitting out on the Lanai. My son even slept out there one night. We also loved how it was close to everything. We also spent alot of time at the ABC store directly across the street along with the Internation Market Place. The staff at the hotel was outstanding. We were there for 2 weeks and the time just flew by. The restaurants and the shows are outstanding. I will only stay there in the future.
Not Good Enough
Careful, unless you fork out a real fortune for the ocean front rooms your "partial ocean view" room could end up over the neighboring hotel's noisy generator with the ocean only a tiny blue sliver. Who knows what the standard rooms get. The front desk staff couldn't possibly be more indifferent. Duke's is a hoot though and the rest of the staff are great. Rooms are nice and large but forget the pool, all the loungers are booked by 8am, and this was November. There are far better deals on the beach.
A Class Act!
The Outrigger is a fabulous hotel and it is run by a totally professional staff who is both friendly and very accomodating. I first stayed at the Outrigger many years ago with my family on my second trip to Oahu. 20 years later, it has become our family favorite. This year my parents went alone to celebrate their 50th Anniversary. The people at the front desk recognized them and, when they discovered the occasion, sent champagne and flowers to their room which was upgraded to a beautiful suite! The Islands have always been magical in my opinion and perhaps the reason for this is that the people of Hawaii make it so memorable. They are so proud of their beautiful home and love to share it with visitors. This is our favorite. Make it yours as well! Aloha!
