    ... too exciting), then just walking around, then to the Menger hotel where we looked around in the lobby - interesting photos on the walls, etc. The Menger bar is where Teddy Roosevelt hung out in the day and recruited his Rough Riders - it really is a pretty bar, with all of the dark wood. We had a drink and then headed back to the hotel - it was Shark Week on TV, so we watched Jaws II, went to bed, and had nightmares.

    Today was a "get there" day. 285 miles, logged in for a total of 5,252 miles, 128.17 gallons of gas for $413.66. There were some beautiful buildings in old Galveston. Going over the bridge was beautiful and TX 6 was ok until I got closer to Houston where the traffic and lights took up a lot of time. I finally got on TX 35 which was a great rural road that brought me to I-10 west to San Antonio. In San Antonio I stopped in to Cowboy's Alamo Harley Davidson for my 5000 ...

    ... If they didn't have it, it was worth having! Anyway an hour wasn't enough. I met a bloke who was dual citizen from Melbourne and Texas and loved talking to me. I bought Andrew his jet boil he has been wanting, a duck floating toy for Georgie and glowing collars for Columbus, Georgie and Smudge and Jazzy.
