... in Catolica, only about 5km from our hotel but he lived in Coriano. This town was included in our ride home from San Marino. It is obvious as you ride through Coriano that Simoncelli was well loved. Flags fly from the lamp posts and there are several memorials in the town to him. The race track at Misano - just up the road has also been renamed after him. A fitting memorial for a very memorable rider and character.

... that we headed down towards Pylos where we were hoping to camp near the Port, but the weather was too extreme – the Police were closing off the streets along the waterfront and the trees were almost blown horizontal! So we went a bit further along the road and found a parking area near a Country Club. There were lots of olive and orange trees in the car park, so we were able to park out of sight of the road and in the morning, I sent Nick out to pick ...

... the Ducal Palace (though why she needs alcohol when she is so high on art remains a mystery!) and then returned to the hotel to relax and freshen up before dinner.

Tomorrow we move on to Parma (famous for its cheese) by way of a four hour taxi, bus and train trip. The actual travel time is much less than this, but of course you have to allow for connections etc. Meanwhile, enjoy the blog and the photos ...
