... in our direction! On reaching Aber Fforest bay, we are forced down onto the beach and back up the other side. It's the same story at the next inlet of Aber Rhigian. Here we cross a shingle beach and a stepping stone bridge before the next climb back up. High up we have good views back to Dinas Island and Needle Rock with its great eye at the bottom. We also marvel at the sheer cliffs and the wave cut platforms below them. They appear to be patterned by the sea's erosion. ...

This morning we are back at the car park at Strumble Head to continue the next section of our walk. As a welcome change to yesterday, the path is flatter and less rugged here as we make our way around the headland. It's looking to be another scorcher and already the sun is glittering on the water in the cove below. At Porthsychan we drop down to the shore line before ascending up to Carregwasted Point. Here a memorial stone explains that this was the ...

The path eases for a while as we cross a heather and gorse section of path and then we are clambering over a rocky tor. The path seems to have disappeared as we climb up but we can see walkers approaching so it must be right. Over the top and we turn a corner heading in and ...

... on the same path as us for a few days now. He assures us the walk is very easy - but of course he is walking in the opposite direction to us! Seems like we have an awful lot of uphill stretches today :-( The path weaves in and out of three bays which look totally insignificant on the map but actually add up to quite a long walk. Finally we arrive in Aber Draw where we stop to examine a disused watermill with ...

... it's just like summer (oops I forgot, it's still summer!) On we go, in and out of picturesque little bays until we arrive at Abereiddy. Once a thriving mining community, we examine the derelict miners and 'The Blue Lagoon' which was once a quarry but flooded during a storm. Today some young men are enjoying the lagoon, climbing up high and jumping into the cool blue water below. (see video clip). The hamlet here was inhabited until 1930. One ...
