... I agree with that.

Also thinking about the Scots and their vote next week to secede from the United Kingdom. Most people I ask about it think that the Scottish people will not vote to leave Queen and Country, but I kinda think they might,. I mean, WE did it, right? And the Scots wouldn't even have to declare a revolutionary war or anything. The vote is next Thursday.

After a week of family celebrations, it is finally Barbara's actual birthday.


Paul and i got an early start this morning picking up some wooly stuff for Annette.

The shop is one of several businesses located inside an old woolen mill. Barbara's older sisters worked in this mill back in the 20's and 30's.

... a peek in Ripon cathedral. We have a lot of cathedrals on the list to see... I'll have to decide if one is my favorite. Then it was west to Thirsk. Thirsk is the home town of the vet that wrote the James Herriot books, which Dad is a big fan of. We toured James Wights house/practice and even played some games there. Across the street is our b&b so we have a peaceful night before another big commuting day tomorrow when we'll drive to York and board the train to London ...

... is an old pub/carvery that has a kid's play-for-pay facility attached. I assume that is so parents can enjoy their pints and/or dinners while watching their kids in the playroom. The kids seem to love it.

Lovely sunny morning just right for a drive to Bristol. Just as well it was so nice because Melanie realised half way along that she'd forgotten her phone so we had to turn around & retrace our steps. It got to 8 degrees by the time we got to Bristol at 10.30 & the Brits were out in their singlet tops & shorts already.
