We hit Northumberland

... beach big, sandy and empty. took a few photographs.
Monday 19 got a boat "Serenity" from Seahouses to the Farne islands, about a 1 1/2 hour journey, saw lots of seals and the Longstone lighthouse where Grace Darling lived and rowed out to save the passengers on a stricken vessel which had drifted onto the rocks. no photos because I forgot the camera!

Trip to Dunbar and Edinburgh
On Saturday we had arranged to go to Marion and Keith's new home for a bbq. It took us just over the hour to get there, it is a lovley house and garden. It turned out to be a lovey sunny afternoon. We sat and ate and drank all afternoon into the evening when Keith lit the fire with logs (very cosey). Jack had a great time ...

Goodbye Scotland

Great day of cycling through the Scottish Boarders. Coasted through the beautiful Tweed Valley. But then the climb began around Selkirk. Several km’s leading up to the town, going straight up through the town, and for several km’s out of the town! By then we were at the highest point around and had wonderful 360degree ...

Can We Fix it? Yes We Can!

... Pulling off into a little Crescent, he worked and worked at it - trying to figure out the reason for the slipping so he could fix it. After awhile, I set off on my bike to scout out and see if I could find a cycle shop or somewhere we could get help. Obviously this problem was out of Brian’s scope of ability at this time. Went up and down to the next town and found nothing. Stopped in at a little store to ask - just in case ...

... private football pitch - see the photo with their home-made play house in the background. Unfortunately no photos of Edinburgh castle as we forgot to take the camera out of the car. A pity as I thought the castle was superb - we got souvenirs instead.

From the sea to the SKY - SKYDIVING for charity

... adventure. Perhaps I was, being so random these days (wait till u hear my other stories *grin*). But I figured that I will only live once and am determined to make this life of mine happy, fun, exciting, adventurous, lively, adrenalin pumping etc etc as much as possible. Anyhow, going back to those thoughts which I had a lack of, I can say I felt quite calm and normal leading up to the day. Even getting ...

D+M: 6 months in the hot seat

... chirpy when I call so it's a case of so far, so good anyway. My new uncle responsibilities have got me thinking of my future in this regard - what marriage or children could do fill certain gaps in life - and shopping for baby clothes and the various home renovations going on around me have raised some unexpected and conflicting emotions recently. Weird. Maybe that's the meaning of being 33. Anyway, you can probably tell I'm even more confused than I was before I left on ...

Final Days

... bout that....really... Work is absolutely a graveyard at the moment, 5 more people to check out then that's me basically done for the shift. Unfortunately it's either this or full on at this hostel. I was finally off yesterday and my plan was to pick up a movie in town (2 actually), order pizza, and watch movies in the cinema room in my pj's. I am delighted to say that it actually worked out perfectly. The hostel was DEAD. There was free pool night in the bar which I took advantage of ...

Hidden pies within a fortress

On the 15th we got up pretty early to give Paul and Kathy a goodbye. They left sadly, and we got up to switch hostel's (as 16 people in a dorm is just chaos). We stayed in the same hostel, but they owned another building across the road which we went into and it was a 4 bed Dorm. This building was actually quite a bit nicer. There we ran into a couple of girls that we met in Interlaken doing Canyoning. - Hows that for a small world. That night we went to the ...

Edinburgh Sightseeing

aul and Kathy woke us up early thismorning as they have to head back to London today. Hopefully we will get to see them again on our way back through London in a couple of weeks. We got up and ready for the day, and set out up the Royal Mile until we got to Edinburgh Castle. This time though we payed to go inside the castle for a look around. The inside of the castle ...
