... Aston which is described in the guide as being 'overrun with new housing', in great contrast to Brewood (pronounced brood) which is full of character and lots of historic goodies. Brewood originated with the building of a Roman fort on Beacon Hill to defend Watling Street. As you pass over Stretton Aqueduct you have an excellent view of the A5 which was originally built by the Romans. I must admit to a sense of great superiority over the teeming motorists below.
Nothing much to report to day. We went into Leek a Historic Market Town in Staffordshire, to buy more plastic boxes, we just can't contain our excitement any longer(sorry I had to say that before any one else did). We arrived back just as the heavens opened. ...
Day 8. After a morning spent fitting a cupboard door, with some difficulty, we drove back the lovely Spa town,Buxton. We called at the "Druids" to catch up on the news, water the plants and tap into the wifi. A trip to the supermarket was needed to stock up on supplies for the weekend. Our decision was to have one night in Edinburgh and spend a few days driving up there stopping at a few places that we didn't know, north east England and south east Scotland being the part of Great Britain that we known least well.
I started off from home and then stayed at Julie's overnight because she had a bit of work to do on Friday.

As I drove into town, I was delighted to see that the sun was shining and it was 12C...probably the warmest I had seen it since I had been here.
