    21st June - Kilambo border post - 8171km
Left Kilwa Masoko with the idea of spending the night in Mikandani/Mtwara. Stopped at 10 Degrees South, an establishment run by Mzungus. A very nice English girl was so helpful, got the barman to phone to find out if the ferry was running, and it was, so this would save us a trip of about 400km by not going over the Unity Bridge over the Rivuma River. And she told us that the ...

Gary and I woke up to a beautiful day so again decided to get in some exercise on the beach.

Every morning there is always heaps of locals that wade out through the shallows to hunt and gather (from what I can figure out) absolutely everything they can find. So this morning as we were down on the sand doing pushups some local women thought it was the funniest sight they had ever seen. They rushed over and literally ...

After waking up to another superb morning and sunrise over the ocean, Gary and I decided to get up and do some exercise on the beach. During our workout we had some very amusing locals trying to mock us (they were trying to do sit ups but it was much more like humping the sand...) all the while giggling their high pitched giggle,

It was then time for a coffee and reconnecting with the world as we were lucky enough to have good internet. Before too long we were ...

Although the wind didn't really die down over night we had a pretty good sleep and again woke up to a gorgeous morning. As we have planned to leave today I quickly showered before packing up and then settling in the sun to enjoy the pancakes Gary was whipping up. Iris and Jeorg had brought their map and have already done Zambia, Botswana and Nambia so they told what was good and what they thought wasn't worth it. A very valuable conversation indeed. Right, so we ...

    Snorkeling in the Indian Ocean

This afternoon I finally gave snorkeling a try here at the Msemo hotel. The water is incredibly warm in the shallows, but does cool when you finally get to deep water. I didn't stay out long because there are many jellyfish. Since I was stung last summer at Myrtle,by one and found it to be extremely painful I didn't want a repeat of that encounter. It's quite shallow for a long distance so I wore ...
