    Wonderful experience.
Room is fine. King size bed, bathroom. All well presented.

Tjapukai (the T is silent) is the local aboriginal tribe. They like to wear their artwork, and even painted our faces for the interactive show. The first part of the show before dinner was an aboriginal fire ceremony showing the significance of fire in their culture. We participated in the ceremony, using clapping sticks, and the chants & movements …

Busy day today in Kuranda, up in the hills south of Cairns. We took the Skyrail gondola up, making two stops along the way to see views of the dry rainforest - sounds like an oxymoron, by it's the dry season right now. These hills are the end of the Great Dividing range that runs along the east coast of Australia. The first stop gave a good …

Took a BIG catamaran (500+ people ?) to the Great Barrier Reef. A 1hr ride from Cairns to Green Island where we dropped off the less adventurous folks before continuing on for another hour to the reef. We docked at the Outer Reef pontoon for an afternoon of fun. I did the 20min tour of the reef in the semi-submergesible boat where I took several …

Morning walk along the waterfront on the promenade. Getting a lay of the land - Cairns is in a northern harbour surrounded by hills/mountains, so is sheltered and remote. A "local" said the best way to get here is by plane. The promenade is very popular for morning walkers and folks working out at the exercise stations. There's also a big kids …

    Cairns and Port Douglas

Flew up to Cairns Friday evening flight was 2 hrs late :( then got a bus into town to stay at Gilligan's the hostel i was recommended. Arriving at 1 am i decided to hit the bar. The town is a bit like the Australian version of Ibiza of Magaluf except the music isn't great. There isn't a beach in the middle of town but there is a lagoon and it's ...
