Melissa and I left Sydney on Sunday afternoon, feeling great after getting some surf time in Bondi and having fun in the city. Melissa's brother had spent a few months in Australia to camp and surf along the coast, and while it sounded like fun to mirror his adventure, we quickly realized that renting a camper would require us to actually drive. ... Me, Ruthie and Julia went for a swim and it was nice. The sea was warmer then the air temp! Unfortunatly while we were in the sea it decided to start raining. We stayed in the sea as it was warmer then getting out but my stuff got quite soggy. Once we got out it was quite rubbish! I decided to invest in a mac. The minute I did it stopped raining!! Typical! ... a car came so I had to put them on again! the people left so I took them opff again - and found a leech on my other leg!! much panic ensued with Jack trying to hold a match to my leg to try and get it off - a lighter or salt is best for leeches but we had neither - and only succeeded in making my leg hot! ... week was our final afternoon when we rode the horses down to the river and took them in bareback for a swim - a great end to the week :) After being dropped back into town, my aim was to find some farm work after over-spending in Sydney. I ended up finding work at a place not far from Tamworth with three German girls that I'd met at Jillaroo school. Work included cattle work, irrigation and basically getting my hands dirty!
