28 December Fortunately I had recovered completely by this morning, and we set off towards Mettupalayam where we are spending the night. On the way, after 4 hours in the car, we stopped for lunch. We should have eaten in a Heritage Homestay in Palakkad, however there was a wedding going on between an Austrian and his Palakkadian bride. ... tea with copius amounts of sugar, as is the normal proportion in India. I got some kind of masala cookie (masala is just a word for spice) that was not sweet as I imagined but had veggies and cardomom and chilies. I sat at a table and watched the goings on while drinking and watched the comings and goings as much as the comings and goings were watching me. I bid my goodbye's and paid 15 rupees (10c), exhilerated and refreshed with yummy black tea coursing through my veins.
