... a family we had stayed with almost 30 years ago. He was a very humble man and full of interesting stories. He's going to try and arrange a trip to Australia for dad on one of his ships later in the year and has shown an interest in hydroponics which could prove to be very interesting.

You come to almost expect to meet such humble and friendly people in this country. You meet so many kind and happy souls here ...

... 100 years old) - these are left over from the days when the English living in India headed here to escape the heat. Our accommodation is in one of these old bungalows. Like all the towns in India, there is more rubbish in the streets than I am used to. However, Ooty is clearly trying to tackle this as plastic bags have been banned. When I bought the tea it came in a small cotton bag ( which will be perfect for my lunches when I'm back at home). Plastic is also banned from the botanic ...

... bends and steep hills but one hill close to the end, was so steep, we had to get out for the Tuk Tuk to get up it!

First of all in the tea Factory we bought some tickets 2x Adults 2x children and 1x camera.

We started at the top at the top of the factory and worked our way down.

... home laden with cheap cashmere jumpers and pashminas quickly subsided and we are now the proud owners of two hoodies and two pairs of leggings!The wine was more of a mission, as Tamilnadu is a non-alcoholic state and our initial glee at seeing bottles of wine in a shop window were dashed when we read the words "de-alcoholized" in small writing on the bottom of the Australian C******ay!It's going to be a dry Christmas!

... stunk and the food was awful but apart from that it was fine. After checking in we were greeted by the Manager, Mr Gillies, who was very happy to have us stay and told us about 3 English girls who had stayed recently and who, apparently, had a fabulous time – he even showed us some photos of them, he promised to make our stay memorable and had lots of things lined up for us for the 2 days we were staying and “no one single thing would cost more than 120 ...
