Up early having trouble sleeping but after another English breakfast buffet we drove into Barnsley City Centre and found a Market of over 203 stalls in progress but the weather has changed raining and very cold so we opted to walk around the city centre for a while. After coffee we then drove to Pots Hamper and met up with our friends for typical scones jam and cream and a few good laughs. Lovely cafe ...

We woke reasonably early again today after we both slept like logs, we definitely needed a good nights sleep. We are slowly adjusting to the changes of a UK lifestyle and way of living but it is still going to take some time, especially getting settled into our new home for the next 6 months. We had breakfast and we went for a walk around town to get our bearings which I am really glad we did, doing ...

      Barnsley Day One

A travel blog entry by lcrigby on Apr 10, 2015

We packed up our luggage and I had a quick phone call with mum on messenger and Skype with Steve. It certainly makes being away from home easier knowing we can contact them any time of the day. The breakfast spread was the same as the last two days so again we loaded up on breakfast to try and save money on lunch and dinner. We checked out ...

... bit unspecific, so we decide to head for Lyme Regis in Dorset, which is the de facto capital of fossil hunting on this stretch of coast. Once we're past Exeter we leave the dual carriageway, and it's all fairly twisty A-roads down to the sea. In Lyme Regis we just follow the signs for the harbour, trusting this will take us down to the briny. It does, and a large pay & display car park to boot. We decline to part with cash to park and dash out into the drizzle between ...

      Finally home, or am I?

... run by a Swiss husband and his Peruvian wife. I could so perfectly imitate his rare Spanish accent (to myself) that it seemed a shame I could not share my mimicry with someone else. The bungalows were very basic and there was only a toilet, simple kitchen and wifi to keep me entertained.
My days were spent walking down to the beach, setting up a perch and relaxing. I took great joy in swimming in the open water but being alone in the water, found it hard to summon the courage ...
