Hello!

So last I wrote we were still in Cape Maclear, having just finished the PADI course. This was a lot of fun. I have never scuba dived at all before so it was awesome to get in the water and see lots of fishies. Mainly they were the ubiquitous cychlids of the lake in a variety of colours (my favourite being the black and iridescent-blue zebra-striped ones, followed closely by the inquisitive white with ...
Blantyre, Malawi sianevansJust a quick update, I can't seem to work this computer! I'm now back in some sort of civilisation, having travelled 200km up the lake in 9 or ten days ( i honestly can't remember!). It has been a crzy adventure (the bus jurney to the lake in itself was a tad bit hectic), we have wildcamped on beaches most of the time, some in villages who have never met ...
Blantyre, Malawi mchizilisa... there.

Later we will be catching a bus that will leave at 1, 2 or 3 o'clock and will take 6 to 4 hours, so we have been told. We will probably arrive at the lake in the dark but are hoping to stay at a small guesthouse there.

I'll probably be offline for a few days but my Malawi no. is +265 993436153, I will have this no. until the 12th August.

Blantyre, Malawi mchizilisa... Blantyre as I researched LifeNets operations in that region. After finishing the "office work," the LifeNets staff took outdoor excursions through two wilderness capitals: Mt. Mulanje and the Liwonde National Park. Today's blog highlights three LifeNets beneficiaries in Blantyre and the natural wonders encountered on our return to Lilongwe. Briefly, I'd like to share a personal reflection in light of this internship. Tomorrow I turn the ripe old age of 21. It's not an important ...
Blantyre, Malawi davisc.Today, I renewed my visa, which was a rip off because I needed to pay MK5,000 for just 5 days. Then when I leave, I need to pay another $30 just to get out of the country. Strange rules here. Oh well! I went to Ireen's house yesterday to say goodbye to her friends and family. I had so much fun with her kids. Sadly, they haven't got a single toy, so we played the whole day with the top to a ...
Blantyre, Malawi hawaii14... to make it all stick together, then eat it. That night, the same people threw a party at Neville's house for the matrons and volunteers. It was nice. We had a bbq outside with chicken, rice, salad, sausage, steak and bread. We each had to pay mk2,000 in order to go to the party. It's about $10. Well, I need to go to the market now to buy some fruit and other things for Ireen, so I'll try to write again soon.
Blantyre, Malawi hawaii14... yesterday and we took a drive up in the mountains. It was so beautiful. Stood at the Haile Selassie look out. Which was just spectactular. I am going to learn to cook nsema this week. I learned how to make a lot of other traditional food over the weekend. You can all have a Malawian feast when I return. This week I have taken off from the TTC and I am staying with a friend ...
Blantyre, Malawi elizabeth.sarah... they were in the water. None of the kids have ever been in a pool before so they don't know what it is. They all call it a "big bafa". Bafa is a bath in chechewa. Last night, me and Claire went to Maky's with a bunch of people because Ben Micheal was playing there. He is a famous Malawian singer who plays there often. We had a really good time. Monday, we are going to another orphanage in ...
Blantyre, Malawi hawaii14... was AMAZING! We got to get out of the car and get right next to a whole herd (not sure if they are called herds, but there were many of them) After that we went to the Illovo sugar plantation and got to hangout with the camels they use for patrol in the fields. Then we got to ride one of them. That was pretty cool, one of the camels tried to eat my hair. They seemed to know I liked them because they were following me around and ...
Blantyre, Malawi elizabeth.sarahConversations on the bus

After two days of getting my bearings I took a bus to Blantyre in Southern
Malawi, which was my first 'real' Africa experience, I was the only white
person on the bus.

The ride took just over 6 hours and different people were seated beside
me at different ...
