Hi again, Well, we were on our way to Coffs Harbour today - we had stopped in Taree for lunch. The place has a Big Oyster sat on top of a car dealership. No idea why. Just another of Australia's "Big Things" - there are quite a few. Anyway, about 3 PM, the battery light came on in the car, followed very shortly by the temp light and the bloody thing overheated. We pulled in to discover that the fan belt had snapped. I called the NRMA (their AA) as my UK AA membership covers me here and then s...

... police roadblock where they were breathalising everybody. The policeman asked where we were going and we said. "Nambuca heads" he said "but you've missed it you're coming from the same direction". This made no sense as NH was 80 km away and there's any number of reasons that we might not be taking the direct route. He waved us on and said to his mate " they're going to Nambuca Heads" and laughed. At Nambuca ...
Nambucca Heads, New South Wales, Australia yvetteandjack... Beach for a bit of body boarding and swimming in the sea. Again, it was deserted and very picturesque. We walked up the beach to a cafe following Ivy (who was far more agile and fit than us) over the rocks, slipping and sliding into the sea. After our drink, we headed back and relaxed in the garden for a while. Later, we took Carny for a walk to the creek then packed our packs ready to, sadly, leave to go to Sydney. After eating a huge dinner ...

Anyway, the reason I got to know young Giovanni's name is because his mom spent the whole trip running up and down the aisle screaming "Giovanni! Why can't you behave? Giovanni, why can't you sit down? Giovanni, why can't you sit quietly like these other children?" It was a long flight. The point of this introduction is this: Giovanni has been replaced. As Paul and I were heading north from ...
Coffs Harbour, New South Wales, Australia moppet77... of the 4 but I dont think anyone noticed or questioned that, since myself and the other guy who was training with us were finishing our fourth lap and Alane was already at the end of the pool waiting for us. I guess they just thought she was that fast, but I really think they just didnt notice. She did tread the water for ten minutes with no problem though. Then we got to suit up with all the gear and practice a few skills ...
Coffs Harbour, Australia jarrettalane... Horseshoe Bay. Its a protected bay so there weren't any waves so I went snorkling and got to see tons of fish and stingrays. We couldn't find anywhere free to camp so we headed to Nambucca Heads for the night. We found a parking spot right on the beach. Probably about 30 yards from the water overlooking the ocean. Amazing breeze coming of the ocean. Could here the waves. AND FREE!
Nambucca Heads, Australia tylerv... on the slow side we decided to forget and ignore this advice and go nonetheless. When we arrived we discovered a lot of high-rise hotels and on these hotel balconies were horny little Aussies doing their best to show off to their friends and the whole town by either shouting at the top of their voice or standing there naked. The little sods were everywhere - and I don't really enjoy male nudity at three in the afternoon on a weekday.... Thankfully though we had a ...

Coffs Harbour, Australia linderslade... Hotel which was a really popular bar/club in town with a hostel above it. We think it had just been renovated and not many people knew about it as we seemed to be the only people staying there. That afternoon we drove to the beach which is about 10 minutes from the town centre. Its a really good beach and we spent all afternoon trying to body-surf.... obviously not naturals but it was good ...
