New York City

7 June 2008 Arrived back in New York City after an early flight from Boston. Very hot in New York - 90+ degrees F and very humid. Normal temperature for this time of the year is mid 70's. Went to see the musical "Cry Baby" in the afternoon (http://www.crybabyonbroadway.com/) - another movie turned into a musical with mixed success in our opinion. The first half was very ordinary and slow; the second half was much better - great dancing and songs. Enjoyed dinner at a great restaurant called 'T...

New York City

30 May 2008 We arrived New York in reasonable shape about 26 hours after we locked the front door at home. Having made it out of JFK and to the hotel in record time we decided to see if we could get into a performance of Young Frankenstein at the last minute. So we bought tickets at about 7.30pm and at 8.00pm the curtain went up with us sitting front and centre. The show is not the greatest show on earth by any standards but entertaining enough to keep us awake for a couple of hours. Unfortun...

Our local radio stations all have online listener networks that allow you to answer questions, or simply input your information, in order to win fun prizes.  You can have two accounts per household, and my mom always enters both herself and I in all of the contests, and for some reason we ALWAYS win!  In the past few years we've won DVDs, CDs, gift certificates, backstage passes to shows around the city, etc.  We even won a $50 IHOP gift certificate a few weeks ago that we're going to use on ...

Arrived New York and booked into The Muse Hotel in 47th Street. Great location, especially if you intend to see lots of Broadway shows.

17/10 New York, New York, big city of dreams, but everything in New York ain't always what it seems, you might get fooled if you come from outta town, but I'm down by law and I know my way around . We'd arrived in New Yoik and... I've always wanted to use those lyrics in some way and now it's my chance...thank you Grandmaster Flash and Melle Mel. The receptionist at The Muse Hotel, just off Times Square, NYC, was just perfect. I'd wanted every NewYorkian to be straight out of a late-night Cha...

Historical Traveler Reviews of The Muse Hotel New York City

LOVED The Muse in NYC!

from A TripAdvisor Member
A friend and I recently spent a long weekend at the Muse and LOVED it. The beds were superb, the bathroom roomy, and bathroom amenties excellent. What really sold me, though, was the fact that, on a Sunday, we had problems with the toilet flushing completely. A call to the front desk, and a repair was there within 3 minutes and had it fixed in 5!!! I call that service. PLUS, the location simply can't be beat.

Comfy but .....

Nicely appointed boutique hotel. Atmosphere is the thing. Rooms are fine, comfy beds, good towels and soap, but ASK FOR A ROOM ON THE BACK!!!! A 6th floor room on the front was the noisiest I've ever stayed in - NY, London, Chicago - anywhere! They did change my room for the second night, still 6th floor but on the back, and it was fine. Staff is nice but not very efficient. Switchboard told a business associate I wasn't registered 24 hours after I'd checked in. It has possibilities but quality of staff needs to improve significantly.

Midtown chic

from RoundTheWorldandBack
Very chic hotel in the heart of Times Square, steps to theatre, attractions, etc. Room was nice, very contemporary style, while I encountered a couple of small problems in the room, the service was excellent. Restaurant was very good and expensive. I would stay here again.

Great place to stay!!!

Very Chic and intimate hotel with great service. Staff was very pleasant and helpful. Room was quite spacious. We had a great experience here and would definitely stay here again.

Wonderful Hotel

from A TripAdvisor Member
Stayed at the Muse the weekend of November 22nd 2002. Hotel was lovely, from the quick bellman at the door, to the smooth check-in. we were upgraded to a king suite, as they had no rooms with 2 doubles for us four ladies, suite was lovely, and management was very accomadating to our concerns. My previous NYC hotel stay was the Avalon, the Muse is as lovely, and for theater going is a wonderful choice, and to be near NBC for today show fans, St. Patricks etc. I would certainly stay here again, and highly recommend to friends.

Outstanding

from lucyanne1
The best I've ever had in a hotel! I was met at the curb as I stepped out of the taxi and through a headset the employee announced my arrival to the front desk. Once inside the cozy hotel lobby, I was handed my room key as I approached and went immediately to my room. What a treat! The accommodations were lovely, spacious, modern and clean. I did not want to leave my room except to hang out in the comfortable bathroom! I highly recommend this place. We're returning to the city for business next month and are staying here again! They topped the W Times Square where we stayed 2 months ago. The bar area, called The District, felt like someones living room. The restaurant was great, too. Total thumbs up!

Not A-"Mus(e)"-ing

Ok, this hotel is in a GREAT location: half a block from Times Square and the TKTS Half-Price Booth! Couldn't ask for a more perfect location...BUT>>>>>>>>>mediocre service and forgettable lodgings. Lobby is not that attractive and is not "inviting" or comfortable (read: Haute style over substance). You don't want to linger in the lobby. Service is also mediocre (help is more interested in "image" than "service"). Room was OK but VERY NOISY on the 4th floor!! ONE COULD HEAR EVERY STREET SOUND. Staff would not change room nor did they seem that "caring." Interactive TV menu would not work; no wastebaskets in bedroom; Closet size gym with poor equipment. Overall, a bad value.

I would not stay there again, except for that fabulous location......

You call this hotel Boutique? 24HR. concierge! They need allot more training. Rooms comfortable, but the furniture is so cheap. If your charging these rates, get some real service and more expensive furniture.

A Gem

What a wonderful boutique hotel! Excellent location, spacious rooms, feather-down beds/pillows, modern, clean, big & modern bathroom, cozy eclectic atmosphere, great staff, great service, A+ all the way. I can't stay anywhere else after this. I love this hotel.

Great Place

from A TripAdvisor Member
I was impressed by the attentive and knowledgeable staff. The customer service is really great. The accomodations are luxurious and relaxing. Its amazing to be so close to all the chaos of Time Square and be so so secluded in my room following a busy day. The staff provided great restaurant recommendations where the locals eat and all of them were outstanding.

The only drawback was the room service provided by their restaurant, which took too long just for a cup of tea and it was luke warm when it arrived, otherwise I would give it a 5.
