... they had come back via another chairlift. Before we left we gave our additional rides to some kids who were stoked with the windfall and happy to queue for hours on end. :)

This was not our idea of a day of dream touring so we decided to get out of Rotorua and find a camping ground for the night where we could have a hot shower and recharge our batteries and our many devices.

... salad had salad cream on it. I was so hungry I had to eat some of it, but I was still hungry when I had finished it. We went to Elliott street, due to the amazing name, and found a place called bird on a wire with a good salad selection, free-range pulled chicken and an apple cider vinegar dressing. But whatever it is named the area is truly spectacular. The mountains rising straight from the water are covered in dark green virgin forest, the sea was a blend of turquoise and aquamarine and with the sun shining on it the whole surface seemed covered by diamonds. ... what we all needed. (This was one of the smallest days in the past few weeks – 1 foot on magic seaweed, but for me a perfect size.. shoulder height, mega clean and no wind.. big smiles all round. Ollie met up with some boys his age. They are mostly great surfers, but he has developed the confidence to paddle out with them. He is now riding a grommet board (a 5.6) but doing well. One of his new mates who shreds pushes Ollie into waves!

... so I had to walk on the road for a while. It was just over an hours walk to the Hamilton Gardens and I was grateful I hadn't got lost. The first thing I came across was a beautiful rose garden with loads of different species of roses. Now I'm no flower expert but it looked pretty amazing to me. Some of the roses were huge, bigger than I've ever seen before and I can imagine when all the flowers are in bloom it looks quite stunning. I then wandered to the cafe which over looked ...
