The plane landed, and i got off the plane to feel the heat radiating off of the airport tarmac. absolutely loved the heat after hacking and caughing with a nasty sickness in england.

Just What I Was Looking For

... Green Line I found women dressed in Muslim clothing, signs written in Turkish and an entire world oriented towards Istanbul. The Turkish Lira replaces the Euro, and instead of in modern stores, commerce still takes place in tiny mom and pop storefronts. I would walk past a crumbling one story building held up by who knows what, and inside a man would be crafting something with his hands in a darkened room such as a century ago.

Greek Cypriots are also friendly

... was very friendly and helpful. The local beer was very nice. Keo. The waiter showed us some other places on our map to go visit while we walked around. Had a look at a local fruit and vege market which was quite good but much the same as ours only with a few different products like dates, little fish etc. Headed back on the shuttle at 2pm which was long enough. Had a rest and then went to Oasis to watch sail out. Clocks back 1 hour and I don't know why.

An Unexpected Stop.

... way you enter Cyprus is the way you must leave, otherwise the Republic of Cyprus will consider it illegal.

Talk about political hotbeds. We have just left one and entered another, tourist are just sometimes a porn in their games, when all we want is to just travel freely and see what a country has to offer.

Tomorrow we head to Northern Cyprus in search of sand, oh and an escape route.

Snow at last! Then a sobering reality check.

... we were about to see, and don't pretend to know the politics of the situation, so please don't be offended by our ignorance or any inaccuracies that you may read below. We spent today in Nicosia, (also known as Lefkosia) which is the capital of Cyprus, and the drive took just over two hours along the major freeway on the island. It has served as the capital since the late Byzantine period of the 11th century after the coastal towns were destroyed following the attacks and looting ...

A walk through time

... North Cyprus now that its southern half has been admitted?) There was talk of union between the two halves prior to the time of Greek Cyprus' admittance to the EU, but Greek Cypriots rejected the proposal and thus they remain separated, with numerous checkpoints and barriers strung up across the country, splitting the capital city, Lefkosia, down the middle. Although seeing the full monty would have been preferable, we decided to do what we could to see all that south Cyprus ...

Efaristo Dzouille !

Beaches, Festival, and Churches

... The water was warm and the beach was really pretty. A lot of British tourists go to this part of the island, and many of them buy villas in the area. If that wasn't enough beach time, on Monday we went to the town of Larnica for the Festival of the Flood. This is a religious and national holiday to celebrate Noah and the end of the Flood. This is a fun festival where people throw water and water balloons at ...
