... and drove until we reached North Bend Oregon. We headed down to the beach and saw seals and the Brown Pelican which is an endangered species. We spent one night here and the next day drove on further down the coast to Eureka in California. Finally the weather starts looking up! California is beautiful and sunny and warm...thank god!!!

We left Long Beach, WA and drove down the Oregon coast to the North Bend/Coos Bay area.
Our friends Sami, Scott and Madi, plus several more of their friends, whom we had met the year before, came with their RVs and horse trailers with a bunch of horses and ATVs to a horse park called Wild Mare that is part of the Horsefal Dunes Park.

... and Elephant Seals on the rocks at SImpsons Reef right at Cape Arago--the sound was incredible as hundreds of these creatures barked, rolled, lolled and swam from rock to rock. The seals really look almost human in the water--you will notice a round black spot, and then see it pop its head up out of the water and look around just like a human. Continued south ...

... but there are some large reservoirs located in various areas of eastern Oregon. In the valleys of the Blues, the land has been cleared, and is farmed as hay land and some wheat, as well as pasture. The hay and pasture land is irrigated using primarily quarter-circle systems.

We arrived at about lunch time we stopped in at the tourist information and spoke to a lovely old man who gave us a map and told us to go on a drive around the coast to see the seals and national park coastline... which we did. However, compared to what we'd already seen it's not much to write home about.

Chimeranda is fixed and  we are back heading down the coast. There is no one is coming to visit, we are on our own. I feel scared and exhilarated. We head to Bullard State Park in Bandon. ... Walked around town, got our laundry done for free by the nice owner of the hostel, and downloaded some movies to entertain ourselves. It's wind and rain tomorrow...no question about it. Brian just wants to get to the Redwoods and it looks like the weather might turn in our favor when we finally make it there. Peace love bicycles
