... catch our Amtrak train to New York. The train was only 7 minutes late - in Amtrak terms that's not late! By the time we left church the fog had cleared and its now a glorious sunny day. I was able to take a few photos of Bethel as the train passed through on its way south. Basically, we followed the White River, then the Connecticut River for quite a long way heading in a southerly direction. Just out of Springfield MA, the train stops and the conductors have to ...

It was decided that on Saturday morning we would go to the Sugar House for traditional pancakes for breakfast. (The Sugar House is a Bethel institution - it's an old, rustic cafe that serves breakfast all day and its pancakes are legendary). Not quite my best ever pavlova but it was received well and perhaps Lin will ave to cook one again ...

... We then had lunch in the restaurant and admired the view. Coming back down in the gondola there were a couple of 'interesting' moments when it stopped for no apparent reason. Turned out the operators were removing some of the gondola cars from the main loop of cars so they had to keep stopping to do that. Ali was relieved to get back ...

... which is run on oil. They have a large field around the house with lovely green grass. In the middle is a vegie patch and flower garden combined. There are still some tiny tomatoes, a few carrots and ears of corn, although the racoons have been helping themselves to the corn. There are still some flowers too. Lin will pull it all out in a week or so and Duff will roto over it. There is a deck off the main living area which means there is a verandah to store wood under for ...
