Kørte gennem White Mountains og til Ben & Jerry's icecreamefactory til rundtur og smagning (ummmm). Det bedste var næsten kirkegården for afdøde smage. Der var lavet et vers til hver smag som ikke mere bliver lavet :-). Derfra kørte vi til Middelburg i Vermont, hvor vi boede i et herligt gammelt hotel på torvet i byen. Om aftenen regnede det (det havde vi ikke prøvet før)
Left Boston Monday morning after picking up our Chrysler SUV, a nice car but too many bells and whistles so can make a difficult job of driving on the right hand side of the road a little more challenging. We started the journey on an interstate highway which makes the F3 look like a goat track but had no alternative until we got about halfway to Hartford. Left the interstate and followed the minor roads to Sturbridge ...
... We decided on a campground near Killington VT and stocked up on supplies before the climb to the campground, which was nearly as difficult as the pass. It was late in the day, and we were all weighed down with food, so we didn't roll into camp until nearly 7pm, and by that time when we heard they offered cabins for little more than a campsite, we took it. A fire and some drinks rounded off another short, but atypically difficult day. Middlebury VT > Killington VT, 45 miles, day ...
... what have you. Not far from my position I suppose. The Vermonters I have encountered were in the same place 40 years ago, but now live quite comfortably in the highest taxed state in the nation, arguably. The cost of living is astronomical, but it pays for a very high quality of life; the roads are in excellent shape, co-ops and health food stores abound, nearly every town, small and smaller has a bike shop, and the environment is pristine. ...
The fourth of July was sunny and warm. The parade was great, we wached it from the library. Kathryn was up so we had traditional salmon and peas. The next few days were sunny and humid. I left today and it waw overcast with showers.
I stopped at my cousin Lauren's but I must have gotten my message crossed.
