Last Full Day in Vanuatu
Once again we decided to try Hideaway Resort for some more snorkelling. After giving my novels to the resort for their library we walked down to the town to firstly get some extra cash for the island fee. Once again the wind towers were moving pretty quickly so abandoned that idea and after a wander through town, stopping to admire the flowers at …
Another Relaxing Day in Port Vila
Today was to be a rest day but as we needed bread for lunch we decided to walk down to the main shops. This time we bought some boardies for Malcolm. There was a cruise ship in "The Pacific Sun" so the shops were fairly busy. We wanted some groceries as well so walked to the Super Marche and got an ice cream for the way home.
This evening …
Exploring the Museum and Local Area
Having chatted to the girl at the desk about the museum and waiting 'til 9 o'clock to set out, I thought we were going to the Museum. Apparently Malcolm didn’t realise this and so hadn’t brought his camera so we took the back road into town instead. A Rest Day in Port Vila
As most of Port Vila is closed today, being Sunday, we also decided on a day of rest. We did walk down to the large supermarket, only five minutes walk from The Melanesian, which we had spotted yesterday from the mini bus, to buy some bread for lunch and an ice cream. We also bought some Tim Tams, which were on special for 110 vt and some boardies …
A Day in Port Vila
We had intended to have a day of rest today but when we went to the desk to book a tour the attendant wasn't there so we gathered up some more brochures and had a look at them in our room. We decided on a tour we liked, "Round Efate Island Tour", and decided to walk down to their office to book. We were also able to get cash from the ATM to pay …

TravelPod Member ReviewsThe Melanesian Port Vila
We really enjoyed our stay at The Melanesian. There was a lovely buffet breakfast each morning with a great selection of foods including freshly made pancakes. It was a 5 minute walk down into town and there was a bus stop right outside. The room was very comfortable with a kitchenette and a balcony. There was also a lovely pool.
