Nearly forgot when we were driving through Newton Abbot on the way to the camp site, i saw a sign on the front of a small cottage it read "Charles Dickens parents lived here" Now here is some homework for you, is it the Charles Dickens of "A Christmas Carol" fame? If yes did his parents really live in Newton Abbot? If not then who is the other Charles Dickens?
Will upload a couple of photo's of today.
Well a bit behind with the blog due to no connection so here is a quick update.
We booked into Middlewick farm for a few days before going to Dad's and Mo's for a few days whilst "No Fixed Abode" was away being fitted with a tow bar.
The farm site was very quiet and relaxing, full of sweet smells of dung and pig poop!!!!
Truck dog Poppy thought it was great fun chasing the chickens!!
Hope you like the vid and pics.
Left Art & Thurza's about 11.45 and after lunch at the Dartbridge Pub not far from Totnes we arrived at Wayne & Julia's new pad at about 3 pm.
Beautiful sunny drive across from Somerset and a warn welcome as usual from the Stonehams.
Julia has just finished a sequal to Muddy Boots and after proof reading ...
... bathroom floor was so wet due to a leak from the shower, it made it impossible to use the room.
A lady i met a couple of days later who told me that the caravan next to her was raided by police looking for drugs. Keeping her young children awake and very upset by the incident.
PLEASE PLEASE THINK TWICE BEFORE BOOKING YOUR HOLIDAY AT THIS SITE. Your children might not be so lucky next time.
... but just could not get one to fit the motor home.
If you are ever in the area Witheridge is a nice place to visit.
We left on Friday the 4th to spend some time with very old friends in the "SECRET LOCATION"
Thanks dad and Mo for having us.
Well it feels like Franklins expedidtion but without the Tins to ruin my day, food in port has been very good at the club, the local seafood restaurants, fish bars and of course buying some local caught fish and cooking it myself in the wok.
Well it would seem the weather has at long last subsided, so looking at all the weather charts BBC reports ,wind websites and many more( like checking ...
... just make out the Harbour master on the new floating pontoon, which was doing a mexican wave of its own,
he pointed into the side, round I went , and so did the sail-engine in reverse -off and missing harbour wall, another turn and in maybee went, along side the pontoon, stepping off onto the moving pontoon, grabbed the lines and attempted to tie up, the boats opposite owner came to help, rough isnt it he shouted,
you bet, once settled we introduced ourselves ...
Little Ted and his friends arrived at Heathrow airport. From there they drove back to Devon. Miss Williams checked her email and to the friends' delight, they had received an email from Barnaby, saying he would be flying home in the next few weeks. After a long journey and the exciting news Little Ted was exhausted so he curled up and went to bed.
Exeter, England, United Kingdom thebarnabybear... back to London. We got home in time to join the Vellas for dinner. Not wanting to cook, we went to the local fish and chips shop and got take away. Delicious!! At the end of the meal, Roy sheepishly admitted that it was his first meal of Fish & Chips...EVER!!! I still can't believe it. Exhausted and full, we all turned in early.
