I grabbed the bus to Frankfurt Hahn after checking flights and booking on a Ryanair at 06:45 this morning. I sat in the airport for a few hours as it was an early flight but it was fine. We left on time and despite a rather bumpy landing I made my way from Stanstead to Kings Cross for the train to Grantham and then home.

I have a couple of hours to waste away so grab a coffee and sit outside. I notice ...

Today we drove to Norfolk and on the way we stopped to see the Angel of The North sculpture on the way out of Newcastle.

On the way we also saw the last flying Vulcan which was on a final tour around the country. We stopped in King's Lynn and had a look around.

We drove to Heathrow very leisurely, and spent a good 2 hours in the BA lounge. The plane was a new Airbus 380 and we were seated upstairs. The flight was 10 hours but with nice food, wine and some movies it was not too bad.
Arrival in SF was easy, with customs very quick, found the hire car desk but then had difficulty with the car / SUV as we couldn't get out cases in under the boot cover. Problem solved ...

The steam pump and diesel pump are still there and are fired up once a month in summer by a band of volunteers, and today was the day - the last this year. Very impressive ...

    Day off!

A Finlay-free day today so we went for a day out to sleaford. Nice market town and we dropped on farmers market day so we bought, of course, lots of good Lincolnshire food. Sleaford church is a very interesting church dating from the 1300's and with a range of gorgeous stained glass windows, mostly Victorian, but some 1900's and a lovely modern window from a couple of years ago. Then a trip to the only eight-sail windmill in the country and on to the bubble car ...
