We only ended up spending about 22 hours altogether in Amritsar, but there was not much to see there other than the Golden Temple so worked out ok. We decided to stay in the Golden temple complex itself- they offer free accomodation to tourists and you can even get a free dinner! There were hundreds of Sikhs milling around and everyone was so so friendly. We had to share washing facilities with all the people that live there more permanently, which was great fun ...

... will go back tomorrow morning. I spent most of the evening chilling in front of the telly. Swami Ram Dev (a famous Yoga instructor) is in Jalandhar and they were broadcasting his class. I'm amazed at how many people follow this guy's teaching, there must have been a least 100,000 people at this place and the front row tickets were 2,500INR. I remember Danny and Anil talking about the guy too. I'm sure it's a good way to look after yourself, but the guy must be making some serious money!
