We got to Napier about 4:30pm and found that there was very little accommodation available, certainly nothing on Marine Parade or in the downtown area so we have booked for one night in the burbs and will try our luck in the city for tomorrow night.

Finally we headed back to Castle Point for the main reason for our visit – low tide. ... L had taught me the basics at the driving range so I started off full of confidence – and topped the ball, sending it off into the rough at an oblique angle! They were kind enough not to laugh TOO much, and I got it close to the edge of the green 2 shots later; the tables were turned, however, when by a sheer fluke I chipped onto the green, and it went straight in the hole! One over par! Yesss!!!
