Ipoh does not get much of a write up in the guide book but we had a good day here staying at the old railway station hotel, so we could catch the train to Kl the next morning. Its a grand old Victorian station with a hotel upstairs with a huge veranda that overl...

We decided that after our experience of an overnight train from Singapore to KL, that we would travel to Penang via Ipoh on the bus instead - and get a hotel in Ipoh before continuing onto Penang the following day.
Left KL on the 5:30pm bus from Puduraya Bus Station (crazy bus station)....had no idea where our bus would leave from so just followed everyone else and luckily got on ...

With the tea tour though it was ' well we cut the leaves off the plant, dry them out, chop them up and hey presto you have tea. Easy. I'm not saying I though it'd be like making wine but, I don't know, I just expected some trickery involved.
We had the mandatory cup of tea and ...

... had actually saved her life :D He thought he was in Baywatch. It was hilarious. What a guy! Inbetween all the water slide action, we decided to see the Tiger feeding show/presentation which the park also had to offer. At 3pm we wondered over to see the three tigers being fed. Having never seen tigers being fed, despite the countless trips to zoo's, I was fairly excited. First off, some food was wrenched across a wire above the tiger pen. I thought they were going to drop the ...

... my score). ON the second game I managed to improve and Tom and I drew top with 113 each, with Chris trailing behind on 87 points. Having noticed that I was getting back on form with the final two bowls of the 2nd game, I wanted to play a third game. Chris didn't want to, so Tom and I decided to play the deciding round. I was indeed back on form and managed only 3 round without getting a strike or half-strike; Tom wasn't best pleased. I ended on 150, having messed up ...

Feeling pretty irritable I caught sight of the Petronas Towers lit up as we entered the city and it suddenly all seemed worth it - and thus started my love affair with the architectural wonder! At the bus station I shook off Yusra and set off to find a guesthouse - as arriving late on a Saturday night in a big city was not ...

You could see the europeans (and us) luxuriating in the damp coolness of the place which felt like God had installed an air conditioner in this one region surrounded by equitorial heat everywhere else. The cool climate attracted tea growers way back in the early nineteen hundreds. It now attracts lots of farming -- strawberries, flowers, veggies, and even butterflies. Not only ...
