          ... lake that had food, according to our unreliable map, so we headed there. It was a tea house and did not really feature food. We ordered some tea, some pineapple pastries and some sweet bean filled rolls. The pastries turned out to be these weird prepackaged rolls that were slightly reminiscent of Fig Newtons but not quite as sweet. It was a nice break from the walking but was not the meal we had been hoping for.

          ... and one was enough. There was no food and there was no more adult beverages. So we waited for the others we knew who were still doing the race. Two of the 4 were able to do the race and came through in the next wave. The other 2 had shown up to late and had just got there stuff and came to the finish because the race was over. Which was a bummer for them. We watched people dance and even started moving in until people started shaking Pepsi all over ...

          Now sailing through the third gorge. Upstream of the dam are two, downstream is the last gorge. It's sunny but hazy. Somehow all foreigners want it to be pollution, but the smell is pure, the color is white, and it makes for the perfect traditional Chinese paintings, where each more distant mountain is more hazy.
