Helloo!!!!
Well, you just never know. After splitting with Matt, its been a wild ride. This is the kind of traveling I live for. Sofia brought a lot of fun and new friends. My rule of thumb to traveling is to find as many Australians and Brits as possible and you will have as many laughs as possible.
I met an Australian fella at my hostel is Sofia . . we decided to travel to Plovdiv together on the train. What was to happen next I could never imagine . .

Veliko Tarnovo was a great stop for us. A lovely chilled hostel, free t-shirt, a fort, and a waterfall. What more could you ask for? We took an early morning bus from Sofia and got picked up by a guy from our hostel. The people running this hostel were really amazing. They constantly had friends coming over to hang out, made us several lunches of sopska salad and sausages, and even organized a trip for four of us out to a swimming hole with a small waterfall to jump off ...
Veliko Turnovo, Veliko Tarnovo, Bulgaria maam... we really need shelter for one. It turns out the place does have rooms but they change their minds about letting us stay there. This makes for a tricky decision; we can camp and risk having to cram three in the tent. Its only one thirty so we have a lot of time to kill. The actual place is a bit icky and it seems likely that a hoard of kids will return at some point.
So we decide to push on to a monastery which might have beds. The route actually goes down a ...
Saturday we crossed over the Danube and into Bulgaria. I hadn't realised they used a different alphabet to English, but it somehow marked our first real change.
We visited a beautiful Bulgarian town called Veliko Tarnovo in the afternoon. Wandered around and had a lovely lunch of a big pizza and drinks (all for about £3!) ate some ice cream and did a spot of shopping. We spent the night in the Dayonovo monastery. It was a little weird and the ...
... for lunch of last nights leftovers. Sonya caught up with us so we walked onwards and upwards with her until we came to an open paddock at the top of the hill where the trail sort of just disappeared. We followed what looked pathish but it seemed to lead in the wrong direction. We saw an old bit of red paint on a tree and followed it for a while but it didn't really seem to have a path anywhere. After some deliberation we decided to go back to where we lost the trail and ...
Veliko Turnovo, Veliko Tarnovo, Bulgaria leahandgreg... fire blazing in the corner, timber everything, and a energetic talkative crowd. Such a good time. We talked for ages, eating, sipping on bulgarian beer. My second night in Bulgaria, spent here in Veliko, I also went out to dinner. Here I met a british man, Thomas, who is working here temporarily as an english teacher. Here we enjoyed ourselves by reading the ridiculous english translations of the wine menu. At one point the description read"....With an odor of blue" Just ...
Veliko Turnovo, Plovdiv, Bulgaria isaacfitz... three. Number one had a major leaking toilet and the sweet smell of sewage wafting through the air, number two had shared facilities that apparently had 'eau de urine' sprayed after cleaning it... Exploring town today and perhaps a local festival of some sort this pm with our guide...the sun is out and the t-shirts are seeing the light of day...finally!!!
Veliko Turnovo, Bulgaria tracystravels... hostel until you find a playground. 2. Go left at the playground (there should be dogs barking). 3. Take a sharp right that goes up. 4. Pass ...
