... we grabbed our snowboards and headed to the local ski hill, Heavenly. Its pretty early in the season for Heavenly so just a few runs were open, but it was still a blast especially for how few people were skiing. Enjoying a cold beer from one of the mountain restaurants and reclining in some lounge chairs at the end of a run, we took a break while watching skiers and snowboarders fly down the mountain. Afterwards, we hit the grocery store to prepare for todays ...
Lake Tahoe, Nevada, United States outbound5... wait till we had a few slides until I got wet and cold installing the cables, but after 1 hr 45 mins we arrived without the need.
We drove to Nash and Jen and met Nash's Mom and Dad who were also there for a few days.
Nash drove us 1/2 way around the Lake where we stopped for a couple of picture opportunities along the way. We headed over to a restaurant called "Sunnyside" which ended up being closed until 16:00. We grabbed a few more shots and also seen 6 ...
... in the end I was stuck with a nasty focaccia bacon-y creation that in no way made up for the sandwich I was craving. It wasn't going to be my day for food....
We spent almost the entire day driving through NV. It was super boring. We'd finished our last book on tape during Day 9 and the surroundings were incredibly stark. Somewhere near the UT- NV border I almost got us into trouble by getting the gas tank down to about 11 miles left- an indication ...
... with lunch and liquor. We really enjoyed the tour (any time we can be on water is always a good thing!) and not just because of the drinks! Views of the surrounding mountains and beautiful Emerald Bay were top highlights.
One of the most scenic drives we did wasn’t along Lake Tahoe, but nearby Taylor Creek and Fallen Leaf Lake. At Taylor Creek, Kokenee Salmon were spawning and the creek was chock full of them. Fallen ...

Oh, and beads.
Please excuse me for not posting some of the more interesting pictures from today's little jaunt, since I'm not sure what this site's policy is on, well, interesting pictures.
Besides, once you've seen one pair... you wanna see them all. Am I wrong? (That's what Google is for.)
... lake, with bays you could stop off at for lunch or swimming. We headed the 4 miles to Vikingsholm and had lunch watching the paddlesteamers come and go. On the way back we stopped off for a swim at one of the bays. The water was cold but not as cold as Skilak Lake in Alaska (I forgot to tell you we swam there!). After a while you get used to it. While sitting on a rock little fish came along and started nibbling on our feet! Very ticklish. After a while I looked ...
Lake Tahoe, California, United States usa2009aswm...
... as dry as a bone, really. So a soak in a natural hot spring was the best thing in the whole world, really. The next day, I took a gorgious drive around the lake and had breakfast with the girls. After meeting up with Z in Reno again, I headed back to San Francisco to gather myself and visit with Ericka and Anaya (her daughter) a bit more.
Lake Tahoe, California, United States brandonibologna1/07/08 Well, we made it into Tahoe last night. The first 7 hours of driving weren't bad, but the last 2 consisted of white knuckle driving through a pass in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. We were walled off by 10 feet of snow on both sides of the road. The conditions were snowy, icy, windy, cold, dark and cluttered with snow covered signs warning "sharp curve" and "steep cliff". It could have been a little easier if Amy's car ...
