Farewell to Amy

(Jim) All good things must come to an end. This has been a wonderful year, with our whole family together pretty much 24/7. It is sad to know that one of us will be leaving our tight little group. Today the kids and I said goodbye to my wife Amy. Even though we'd expected it, somehow we did not think it would come so soon. For the last several days, Amy has been bugging me to find our U. S. T-Mobile sim chips, so we could get our cell phones working again. This morning I found them and chippe...

Historical Traveler Reviews of The Listel Hotel Vancouver

Great Stay!

from A TripAdvisor Member
We stayed at the Listel over Valentine's Weekend and had a really great stay. It was our fifth or sixth time up in Vancouver, our second time at the Listel. This time we stayed in one of their Museum rooms - it was absolutely lovely, and as always the staff were friendly, informative and just terrific to deal with. We'll definitely be back.

Loved the charming Listel

from A TripAdvisor Member
The Listel was great. My room was charming with a great view of Robson Street from the lovely lounge type window seat. Beautiful artwork in the room with information about the artists. Delicious complimentary French pressed coffee room service. The staff was very friendly, polite, helpful and knowledgeable about restaurants, sites and weather.

I also stayed at the Fairmont (business conference there) which is a big lovely hotel but my preference is the Listel. It was more charming and the staff warmer and friendlier. Will stay there again if I get the chance to go back to Vancouver.

Great location and service

I just came back from the Listel. I stayed in a gallery room. It was a nice room but the bathroom is in need of an update. We requested a view of Robson St and received that and an oceanview. They have complimentry Aveda products in the bathroom and room service coffee. The service and staff was excellent. I loved the location. I thought it was a great value for my money and will stay here again.

Overated

I'm not really sure what this hotel has got to deserve such high ratings - sure it's got slightly superior (do I mean supercilious) staff, and a very expensive restaurant, but the room we had was pretty average. The only good thing going for it was a very good location, but there are better priced hotels nearby. Beware the cost of the restaurant!

Very "Artful"

from A TripAdvisor Member
A really terrific place. We were drawn to this hotel by their affiliations with a local fine arts gallery and the Museum of Anthropology at the University of BC. The collection throughout the building is really quite impressive, they even have gallery quality art placed in the rooms. But we were just as impressed with the staff as we were with the art. Just wonderful people to deal with, knowledgeable of the city (as should be expected), and very professional and very warm.

We had a great stay, and we'll certainly return!

Great location and great service too

from A TripAdvisor Member
We stayed at the Listel on vacation and were happy we did. We had a comfortable room on the second floor, facing the back alley, so it was quiet. There was plenty of space for the two of us; the original art work was a nice touch! The lobby is quite beautiful. The staff were friendly and provided excellant recommendations form sights and restaurants. The parking is valet and costs extra but our car was always provided to us quickly.

Although no continental breakfast is served, there are plenty of coffe houses within walking distance (the Chai tea lattes at Blenz.....yum!).

The hotel provides good access to the West End, including Stanley Park, Robson, and some of the other neighborhoods. We would definitely stay here again!

Not worth it

from houstontravelgirl
Although the lobby is lovely and the staff was very helpful and nice, we found the rooms to be pretty pathetic. I'd say they were more like a 2 star hotel. Really there is hardly a bathroom at all. The sink is in a little alcove with very little room for any toiletries (we had to stack our toiletry bags on the floor). The commode and shower are in an adjacent "room" and if that room was any smaller the door would hit the commode when opened. They did not provide robes and the towels were sadly thin. WE almost moved, but didn't want the hassle.

Lovely!

It was snowing when we arrived. Not the norm for California folk. The staff were extremely informative, patient (I happen to ask a an intense onslaught of questions...which they always answered and with a smile!) and helpful. The rooms were comfortable (the down comforters amazing), and depending upon the theme of the specified floor, full of indiginous art and decor. When asked the staff suggested an array of side ventures. If into the local culture, do not miss the Liliget Feasthouse for an authentic native experience, or the Museum of Anthropology for the history. For just great food try Carderos (yum) or Hons Wun Tun House (you will not know what to order, the menu is that extensive... just remember you get a great amount for your money!) both within walking distance. For this California girl, I didnt miss the sun, the warmth of the people and the surrounds, greatly made up for it!

Excellent stay!

The Listel Hotel Vancouver was a wonderful place to stay. My room was beautiful, the service was excellent and the location cannot be beat. I highly recommend this hotel if you want elegance at a reasonable price.

Beware- 3rd floor rooms need a remodel

from A TripAdvisor Member
We chose the Listel Hotel based on the review on Fodors.com.

The location is excellent and the staff is very friendly and accomodating. Unfortunately, the rooms did not meet our expectations. It turns out that the 3rd floor rooms have not been remodeled....they look straight out of the 1980's.
