This part of the walk has the reputation of being the toughest part of the walk. We didn't believe it when we were told, we were convinced the worst was behind us particularly crossing the Black Mountains and passing the highest point of the walk. However by the end of the day we could see (and feel!) what people were talking about. Whilst the distance was just 14 miles the undulations were severe, equivalent to 291 sets of stairs according to the iPhone (2910 ...

... piece of engineering. Our drive also took us through the Lake District and back into Wales.

Tonight we are staying in a Travelodge at Wooferton between Ludlow and Tenbury Wells and had dinner at the Salwey Arms Hotel, a place we had always planned on visiting while staying at Tenbury, but never found the time. Tomorrow we continue our drive south, this time to Sussex, where we will spend the week exploring the south coast of England.

... this was much easier said than done ….. When leaving this evening Traci had trouble closing the front door as the latch would not pull shut. Now we should mention here that the door has a deadlock on it that has a switch on the inside that activates or deactivates the lock. Supposedly the door will not close if the switch is on, however with enough brute force Traci proved this wrong. Yep, you guessed it, we are ...

Today we collected my new passport from Newport, (a terrifyingly straight forward process). During the 4h wait, we had a very enjoyable walk along the cliff path at Penarth and found a tiny pebbly cove where we skimmed stones and played boules with rocks and an old tin can. Everything continues to move incredibly fast, getting passport, sorting travel insurance, selling out car, renting a van to move out stuff to Devon to store with Dan's wonderful sister.
