I left Bianca's in a taxi. After about 20 minutes of convincing the driver that I am positive I do not want a girl, no matter how beautiful or cheap she is, he finally gave up and we chatted the rest of the way. One thing that stuck with me from that conversation is the fact he only made it to grade six in school as his father was no longer able to afford sending him there. I guess childhood education is another one of the things we take for granted. Driving through Malate really exposes you ...

*Click on Photos for details and story* Our stay here is winding down with today being our last day. I wanted to relax and roam around the area but I went with the flow of the group and went back to 168 Marketplace and Tutuban for others last minute shopping. From 168 Marketplace to Tutuban I rode my first Motorized Tricycle (see Video) - what a ride! In the evening we went shopping for dinner at Seaside near the Manila Bay, a fish market selling the day's freshest catches.
Manila, Luzon, Philippines dreyesMabuhay from the Philippines!! I've been in this country for just over a week now and have done so much already! I arrived on the 1st of December, and went straight to meet my cousin for supper. We ended up going out with a few of her friends to this bar to watch some live music and had great night out (despite me being ridiculously tired). The following day, I accompanied my cousin to work, where i had my own computer to check my e-mail.. do research etc ...
Manila, Luzon, Philippines carolinepurver... argue since lots of times crossing or security guards will do that for you. But this guy didn't look official so I didn't know if he was working with the police, looking for a handout or just being nice. The 3rd option seemed like a longshot but you never know. When we got to the door he didn't seem to be looking for money so I let it go. Inside the station, a quick look around reminded me that I wasn't in the US anymore ...
Manila, Luzon, Philippines rjdemp... Begin that I am a budding politician many of my friends wanted to see if I could be direct in responding. I think I did pretty well and gave the rest of the diners a laugh or two when I said I will never again eat dinuguan.. Chocolate meat... or...pig intestines soaked in its own blood! YUCK!! Last night some of us got together here in Manila for a meal and of course videokee, had to rock the mic one last time in the Philippines. My flight leaves tonight ...
Manila, Philippines sherrypace... are allowed to be used at the same time. Each car, based on the last number of its license plate, has a day of the week where it cannot be driven. Manilans love their karaoke bars. When talking about going out at night they usually bring up the possibility of going dancing at a disco, or going singing. In fact karaoke is so popular, that MTV displays lyrics during all of its videos.

Manila, Luzon, Philippines rolls... took us to Makati City. Now we had been in "Makati City" our first month here working at the Forssman office, but we really just did only that. Vid took us to a newly developed area in city that as you can see from the pictures has construction in every direction. One area that is mostly done, has a wonderful outdoor plaza with stores like a mall, but the area is all open air. From Makati City we drove north towards Manila's downtown with ...
Manila, Philippines big_dThe land is a mixture of sand and soil - rough but soft. Waves violently hit sandbars a few miles away, creating an otherworldly sound. But raging as it may be, the waves sizzle to a foam once it hit the cream-colored shore. The sun had already set and darkness crawls in the horizon. The smell of the sea is overpowering, brought about by the strong evening breeze.
