Hopefully by the end of this trip, you will have a little more idea about these little islands in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean.

Yesterday I discovered that there may be people worse off than us. On one of our interminable trips up (or down) in the elevators, a rare young couple, mid twenties, were already in the car. There were a few moments of awkward silence then I chirped up with "So, what's it like to be the youngest passengers on this ship?" Suddenly their faces contorted into mad, stare eyed grins and ...

Finally we got to the hotel where we were to try Azorian wine and cheese. This was actually what everyone was really waiting for and was quite nice and a successful end to a tedious day.
The hotel was just across from where the boat was parked so Lance, Min and me elected to walk back and leave Pedro and his driver to coax the fifty ...

... tonight actually, a simple burger and chips jobby, fully expecting a Weatherspoons special but instead I got what I can only describe as 2 stuffed buns of relish, salad & beautiful slices of beef steak. I’m aware I sound pathetic, awwing over burger and chips but I’ve come to realize that they just don’t mess **** up on a boat like this, everything is bang on, no mistakes – even when you leave the cabin for 10 minutes you come back to a tidy room ...

... go via ferry. St Miguel where we docked is the largest of the 9. This morning we had our complementary "Behind the Scenes tour". We did The Bridge, the costume wardrobe, the galley and also the laundry. 12,000 sheets a week and that's just for the passengers not including the crew. It's just mind boggling to see what goes on, on the decks below. Something like 10,000 meals a day! The size of the soup vats was a real eye opener. The chef who showed us through ...
