    The effects of the great Tsunami of 2004 are visible on Phuket Island.

    Though Thailand acted quickly to restore basic services and rebuild communities, several buildings at our local beach of Nai Yang did not rebuild. One hotel directly on the beach appeared to be one of the best. Several stories high and a structure which was developed inward, the building now lays as a testament to the devastation.
