... through for us lending us the money we needed to pay the broker so Mom didn't need to drive all the way up from home to bring money. Finally at 1 pm everything was all arranged, and we managed to drive across the border with our very expensive pedimento just to cover 300 feet. Immediately we went back an hour to Belize time(No Daylight Savings Time) So we arrived at Belize customs at noon. Got a broker and the dance began all over ...
Corozal Town, Corozal, Belize chrissybz... day with a morning walk in the Corozal Town, seemed quite abandoned with an ambience a bit of how I would imagine Jamaica. Altogether, I enjoyed quite a lot this short visit to northern Belize. At this occasion we did not have time to get to the islands - maybe one day - there are supposedly some georgeous diving, snorkeling destinations, including the famous Blue Hole..

http://picasaweb.google.com/tom mnow/Belize?feat=directlink
Corozal, Corozal, Belize tommnow... that the resort only had two bikes - a man's bike; and a woman's bike. I got the woman's. This evening, Tom and I had been looking forward to a quiet Valentines special meal together in the restaurant. But as I sit in the bar writing my blog, while Tom grooms himself in the bathroom, a tour group of middle-aged Americans have arrived for dinner. There's four of them next to me at the bar, and they're all trying to impress the barmaids by ...
Corozal Town, Corozal, Belize sam180The Mexican good bye. So supposedly To leave Mexico by land there's a 20 us dollar departure tax, but i was told its BS then they threaten not to stamp your passport. Entering Belize The Belize boarder is pretty straight forward what surprised me most was they actually ask you some questions, one poor English fellow got pulled into a private room for further interrogation and never caught the bus... i will note that he was on his 4th Mexican boarder run. The ...
Orange Walk, Belize senorbrian... and most of that is cut into large chunks for the buyers to cut further themselves. One thing we have been able to get is Heinz baked beans, the first time since we left Europe. We are camped at the back of a restaurant in a large field. The only ones here so very quite with the palm trees and birdsong to keep us company. We managed to book a river trip for tomorrow, luckily since they need a minimum of four to go. 3rd.- Well it ended up wrong again ...
Orange Walk, Belize mikeandmary... the wrong direction, debark, catch another bus in the opposite direction, and head for Cancun proper. We find the bus station with little difficulty and prepare for the five hour ride to Chetumal. On the way out of town we pass a Home Depot. Collective eye roll ensues. From Chetumal, we find our bus to Corozal, Belize. It takes two hours including customs and immigration and we arrive ...
Corozal Town, Belize azmarine... up and down the coast, playing a lot of paintball, and ending up in Alaska with no way of getting home. No wonder people think we're fools. Chetumal came up four and a half hours later as a virtual ghost town, with not one shop open. A taxi dropped us off in a deserted square with a single old school bus jetting black smoke. This was evidently the bus across the border into Belize. It was while we were waiting in the darkening square with wisps of ...
Corozal Town, Corozal, Belize wktsorf... hanging television in the bus which i am sure was fantastic entertainment for all the locals on the bus. We noticed a change in the people immediately. The skin is darker and some of these friendly people are Creole originating from Africa and Britain. There is less haggling for business and English is spoken as well as Spanish and Garifuna. They are so proud of their country. The queen is on the coins here. We could get money out ...
Orange Walk, Belize inoursuitcase... The other funny thing about Belize is the great amount of Chinese restaurants. They are everywhere. A Taiwanese couple runs even our hotel, the Akihito Hotel, although sadly the sushi restaurant is closed. Favorite new game to play: Dominoes Belize's Beer of Choice: Belikin First roadside meal: Tamale (Chicken, wrapped in banana leaves) Tomorrow we are taking a jungle boat to Lamanai that has amazing Mayan ruins and monkeys! Arrrright man, Geoff
Orange Walk, Belize gbendeck... part of corozal however is the market, the best fruit in central america that i have had i bought here. The second best thing is really more of a random event, while swimming i was disturbed by the shouts and pointing of the locals as i elegantly ran out of the water all limbs flailing about me i started to understand their shouts. Right there no more than a few meters from where I had been where 2 manatees (sea cows) how cool wish I had a photo! (oh my I am such a camera dad).
