Melbourne is more Beautiful than they Tell You

Good Food,
Good Shopping,
Great Scenery,
Great Beer,

Melbourne turned out to be a real highlight to the trip. The Ocean Road experience presented some of the most beautiful scenery we had ever scene. We finally got to see Koalas in the wild and were warned of Attack Roos. The 12 Apostles (a spectacular group of rock formations located on the Ocean Road) turned out to be even more smashing than the post cards we had previously seen. We are off tomorrow for New Zealand.

Melbourne -> Bangkok

Wow - what a day,or should Isay what a weekend. We both felt very special and loved all weekend, butnow it is our time relax. But before we got on the plane it was still mayhem. I had togo out to uni and pass a test so that I can offically become a Div 2 Nurse, and then it was all hands on decktopack and be at the airport on time. In fact for Ithink hte first time in my life we were on time. Important given both Kristie and I are no longer important to any airline !!!!! The flight to Bangkok ...

Melbourne is Awesome

Extreme temperature change for us arriving in Melbourne. We left 95 in the desert to 45 on the coast of Melbourne. Cold but beautiful. Much more than we expected. The hotel was fabulous and right on the river. We were only there for 3 days but as we have done everywhere else, we crammed in a lot. The highlight was probably the day we made the "Great Ocean Road" drive. It was about 12 hours of incredible sights around each turn. We saw wild kangaroos, furry koalas in the trees and the awesome ...

Greetings from Christchurch, New Zealand! We decided last minute to leave Sydney and forgo the East Coast brigrade until later next month when hopefully the weather clears up. It's been raining and flooding throughout the entire East Coast and we therefore, made an abrupt change to our plans by reversing our itinerary and heading south to Melbourne, and from there a few days later we would catch a flight to Christchurch, New Zealand. Bad timing prevailed on our part, as we booked our flights ...

Melbourne Update

... horse races called the Melbourne Cup, so Court and I went to a bar and made a couple harmless bets on random horses that lost. It was fun being a part of the crowd and talking to some locals. People get really into the races here, dressing up in fancy outfits and making serious, educated bets, but we wanted no part of that.

And now for a little rant...
How Kevin Costner made it to the big screen is beyond me. How he keeps getting work is also a mystery ...

Hanging Rock and Mt Macedon

Well Melbourne just keeps on impressing us. We did the Victoria Night market last night and it was a blast. We enjoyed music, more street vendor and great food. Apparently it was the last one of the summer and it wasn't quite as full but its hard to argue that 20,000 people makes it anything but full. Jenn went crazy picking up little fashion trinkets and scarfs. She is getting close to matching the Melbourne fashion style, modern and cool ...

... this time in Sapa (also Vietnam), us riding a scooter through the local market and them walking there as well. That was creepy! We had a chat with them discussing what our plans were, they were flying to Sydney, us to Perth, joking around that maybe we'll see each other in Australia. We couldn't believe our eyes when we were walking along the Flinders Street Station in Melbourne and bumped into them yet again, how strange!!! We all were so ...

Day 4 - Tourists in Melbourne

... first and then clear glass. Kate wanted to go on, but Alan and I didn't, so we gave it a miss. We headed back to the boat then for a lazy afternoon before dinner. Dinner on Celebrity is wonderful and as remembered from our Alaskan cruise. Tonight, the meal was great, with Crepe Suzette for dessert, made by Validmir, the Assistant Matitre D'. Polat, our waiter, asked Kate how she liked the crepes, to which she enthusiastically replied that she ...
