      Arrived safely after a great flight from Australia. Traveled business class with Singapore and get 10/10 for service and great food. Transferred to Lufthansa and again good service but beds not as comfortable. First day just wandered around Manchester and got our bearings. Busy place and very industrial.       ... and was reputedly very swish. In the lower economy class cabin we failed to notice much difference from the other planes in the Emirate fleet. Only when we had a long long wait for the luggage to be offloaded at Manchester were we reminded of the larger capacity of the A380.

      Next we headed to Chester, which is in England.

      We got 2 and a half hours to explore. The city has many old buildings and a beautiful cathedral which we snuck into for free. HA! Screw you institution!

      Anyway, we also wandered along the walls around the city, but I didn't think they were as nice as the one in York.

      Back to England today!

      We stopped at Gretna Green, which is just before the English border. It is the place where couples used to elope to get married back in the old days because they could get married right away under Scottish law, instead of having to wait. In Gretna Green this year they've already had a pair of 16 year-olds get married (why?!)
