... of us a souvenir keepsake, that is a letter opener inscribed with Chinese writing about the Great wall, and they are in a beautiful red box. Wei was super surprised, and told us we should be honored because these are not souvenirs for everyone to buy. I thought that was super sweet of them to give us these gifts and treat us to lunch.
After that, we drove back to Beijing, quick stopped at the hotel, and then got on the subway to go to see a Chinese acrobatics ...

... bit templed out for the day, so we scratch it and head back in the direction of the hotel to find food. The tube has flashing advert screens so that when you speed by them it plays you adverts in the way that the old victorian style viewing spinner type devices used to work. Very hard to photograph though so might have to video it at some point Food we procure from the hotel cafe at bargainous prices. Bacon danish pastry, tea, sprite a sandwich and mini cakes ...

... we gave up. Had to catch a train out of this massive city. At the station we did a horrible, unspeakable, despicable and delicious thing. McDonald's......Beijing even found a way to ruin McDonald's. We are glad we came here, a city this massive and overpopulated was definitely something to see. We probably would have enjoyed it more if we hadn't have just been in Japan. Everything we loved about Japan does not exist in Beijing.....or we never found it. Looking forward to ...

Olympic Park

The Olympic park is reachable by metro line 8. The park must be visited both in the day and night.
in the day the Cube(swimming stadium) is just plain but when lighted in the night it glows in shades of blue. The bird nest is a great sample of the Chinese engineering feat. The steel structures are a wonder to behold. In the day it is a chunk of grey metal and steel beams but in the night it is transformed into glowing lights. ...
