Dubuque, Iowa, United States ecsflemings... Nate. The drive was all good until two blocks before the hotel where the road merged from to lanes to one and I didn't quite adjust properly. The kerb won and I got some air much to Mark's horror and Kym's laughter. The very next block there was a police car which was somehow hidden from our view. Phew! Mark and Kym did a quick check when we got out. I just walked off :p

The brekky hall at the Embassy Suites was PACKED... turns out everyone slept in! Everyone dived for ...
Dyersville, Iowa, United States hoffersTomorrow morning I will be on a new journey this time to Peru. My bags are packed - well almost. I am bringing two suitcases each weighing 50 pounds. I know that sounds like I am high maintenance but actually probably 60 pounds if not more is donations. My co-workers at DB&T donated school supplies, shampoo, conditioners, soaps and lotion. I know it ...
Dubuque, Iowa, United States iowatraveler... in Iowa are the green fields, corn, beans, and even wheat carpet the hillsides for miles. At one point while stopping for pictures I wanted to take a running leap and just get lost in the corn. Needed to keep driving to make Dubuque but as I got closer the emergency alert system came on, something about hail, flash floods and sever thunderstorms heading straight towards me. I thought briefly about the little 2-person tent I ...

Dubuque, Iowa, United States celebrationiowa... Upon arriving at the dock at dusk 5:00 (I learned that every night all year round the sun goes down at 5:30 - being as though it is so close to the equator) the boat was greeted by family members of the others on the boat as well as by their dogs. Yes the ratio of people to dogs is 450 to something like 65. To say that these random dogs walking around the island with no leashes and no cars to hide in ...
Dubuque, Iowa, United States iowatravelerWell another day and another day away from my head. It was better, but I am still not back to normal mentality. How does this work. How do I go to another country and be and then come home and go back to normal. Because for me normal seems like a thing of the past. I keep thinking about that Google logo, with ...
Dubuque, Iowa, United States iowatraveler... Eat, Pray, Love. I never have thought about Meditation and I spent a week with Federico and the part of the book I came home to was her trying to experience meditation and sitting with her thoughts. I probably need to sit with my thoughts. Become one with the feeling. But it is hard. The unknown. So I guess for now I am going to finish by asking God for guidance and Grace. Help me to udnerstand that I don't need to understand.
Dubuque, Iowa, United States iowatravelerI can't believe how quickly the summer has flown by! I thought I'd have all kinds of time on my hands. I've been having a lot of fun with the kids. We've gone to Iowa City and hit a lot of parks in Dubuque. Here are a few pictures of the kids at the Arboretum, Dubuque County Fair and Josie & Kory's 2nd birthday. I hope everyone is doing well!
Dubuque, Iowa, United States jenk... show. As the jungle raced by at my sides and my sight became blurred because of the wind, suddenly Alfredo, our guide, jumped out of his seat, telling the driver to pull the boat over to the left bank. Within seconds we were staring at a three-toed sloth, lounging contently in the tangled branches of a tree. Alfredo would inform us on all aspects of the animal's existence while the driver made sure everybody had a good view and a chance to take pictures. Along with ...
