I had to wait for my carry on to come up so that I could go find my big suitcase. There wasn't enough room so our carry ons had to go under the plane. There are lots of little turtles sitting on submerged logs but the take a dive when they spot us - we have to be quick with the camera. 45 years ago there was only one breeding pair of bald eagles in the area due to DDT. Once we had breakfast we headed off to do a wildlife Mississippi boat cruise ....the river is huge with many islands in the middle ...the river goes for about 2900 miles...from north to way down south. There are 3 rivers that connect ...Mississippi, Black and Minisotta rivers. Very impressive. We didn't have the paddle steamer ..as expected... But a small boat.was ok ..just not so grand. We seen big blue herons, ...

We lunched at One Eleven Main where I had some delicious catfish. After lunch we walked around the city admiring its historical architecture, including the oldest house in Galena, Dowling House, built in 1826. A lot of buildings had faded hand painted advertisements which Kelli admired for their typography. We walked off lunch and then piled back in the car bound for Chicago. ...
