... on some very small waves, Ryan put on his fins and was motoring around, so much so I was nervous he was getting too far away. We build sand castles, Megan made sand angels (her idea and it was hilarious!). We had a few scares too, Russ stepped on a sting ray and thankfully only got a small shock with no lasting effects. When we were taking down our canopy Ryan wandered off and ...

We had initially thought that we would venture out of the airport and kill some time shopping, but after an hour and a half getting through customs and passport checks and a sudden rainstorm, we decided to explore what turned out to be a ...

While we were waiting for the ferry, we stopped in for a sandwich at the ferry office snack bar. A very nice young man served us, which turned out to be rather a chore, as he was just about out of everything I asked for a few things, and each time, he said that they were out. Finally ...

We had dinner at the Fish House, a locally famous spot on the harbor in downtown Pensacola. This was a recommendation from Bonnie, our B&B innkeeper, and it was an excellent one. The menu has ...

... actually quite good, much better than Fisherman's Corner. With the place 30% full, we ordered and our food came within minutes. Fast but not fast enough where you knew they had just microwaved the food or given us something that was sitting for a long time. We had raw oysters, baked oysters and fried oysters. All delicious. Can you tell, we love oysters? Not sure why the raw oysters were ...

Historical Traveler Reviews The Island House Orange Beach

    Perfect Family Hotel

    from

This was our first trip to Gulf Shores/Orange Beach. We booked with this hotel with no prior knowledge of the hotel or location. It was an absolutely wonderful experience. The food at the restaurant was great as well as affordable. We at breakfast there every morning. It never cost a family of 3 over $20. We had a problem with the drain in our room and it was fixed within an hour. The staff was wonderful, the view from our room and the pool was great.

My only suggestion to them would be to have a hot tub in the pool area.

Also, the kiddie pool is not heated so no kids were in it. Too cold.

Clean, Very Nice view, great staff and Price

    from

We spent 3 great nights in April at this hotel. Everything about this place is great. Every room has a private balcony facing the beach. You will be glad you stayed here.

    Very nice hotel

    from

We stayed at the Island house Valentine's day weekend, and enjoyed our accomodations very much.Room was very clean and comfortable, staff was excellent, and having a private balcony facing the gulf was very nice.If your going to Orange Beach for a short stay,Island House would be a good choice.

    Great Place to Stay

    from

I stayed here for a couple days for Spring Break. It was a great place to stay because of the location. The rooms were clean and the staff were all nice. All of the rooms also face the ocean which was really nice. If I ever go back to Orange Beach, I will want to stay here again.

    Clean rooms and great staff

    from

We just got back from Orange Beach and we stayed at the Island House Hotel. The rooms were clean and the staff was courteous and very professional. The hotel is right on the beach and all the rooms have a balcony facing the gulf. We had a very enjoyable time and would not hesitate to stay at the Island House again. If you go to Gulf Shores, be sure to stop at Foley for the shopping an eat at Lamberts. We waited 2 hours to be seated so get there early but it was worth it.

    Clean Hotel

    from

My daughter, her two friends, and I stayed at The Island House this past weekend August 1-3. The hotel is right on the beach and all rooms have a balcony with chairs and a little table. Our room was clean and the employees of the hotel were very courteous and professional. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend this hotel to anyone.

Great Place To Stay & Relax

    from

The Island House Hotel in Orange Beach, AL is a very nice place to stay and relax for a weekend. The rooms were nice and clean, great balconies to look at the ocean(wish they had a little nicer deck furniture). The Beach chair service was great, along with the restaurant. Front desk was very fast on check-in and check-out, staff was very friendly. My only complaint was the ice machines were out of ice about 50% of the time, and I had to go from floor to floor trying to find one that had ice, and the stairwells smelled like smoke because employees were down on the bottom floor taking smokebreaks, other that that it was a great hotel experience.

    Great Place to stay

    from

The Island House is a great place to stay. We were on the third floor directly over looking the pool, which was a great place to sit and watch the granddaughter swim. The room and service was great. Why pay condo fees, when you have this nice hotel to stay in.

Highly recommend the Island House Hotel

    from

Recently we stayed at the hotel and totally enjoyed the furnishings, the gulf views, and the condition of the rooms. I recommend either the east or west end location, enabling an individual the advantage to look way down the opposite end of the beach. Also, a pleasant surprise was the lack of school age kids during spring break. And not having to pay the cleaning fee at a condo, which for a short stay really adds to the final bill.

    Relaxing and a great beach!

    from

Island House Hotel is set up in a way in which ALL rooms have an oceanview from the balconies! The standard rooms have two huge queensize beds and are quite spacious. Quiet & relaxing atmosphere. The beach is so wide and the sand is clean, white and very fine! Feels great on the feet! One last thing, they make the Best omelettes in their restaurant! I recommend the mushroom and bacon omelette! Yummy! Had a very nice time there! Time just stopped for us there!
