... hike, we changed into bathing suits and took a dip in Upper Creek right by where we had parked. The water was quite cold, but it washed much of the dirt and sweat off. By the time we got out of the water, it was after 7, so we changed and headed back to NC-181 towards Morganton. We were all hungry, so a huge dinner at Las Salsas was in order. After dinner, it was dark and we could see the Super Moon on the drive home.

... parking area right as we pulled up. We got all our stuff and backpacked in about a half-mile along Lost Cove Trail (#262) following Gragg Prong downstream. ... the base was extremely difficult, steep, and overgrown, but soon we made it down to creek level. I was a little confused as I thought we were on Upper Creek, not Burnthouse Branch, but we had followed the marking tape, had gone about the right distance, and had to rock-hop upstream a bit to see a not-so-impressive waterfall. ... cars here as this is another very popular area with many great primitive camping spots. We hiked along Lost Cove Trail heading downstream along Gragg Prong. In about a half-mile, there was an easy creek crossing and in about a mile, there was a more difficult one that we had to wade. ... small drops that end in a huge pool. Although not the most impressive waterfall in the area, the ease of access and abundance of recreational activities make it extremely popular.
