      ... our heads smashed in.

      We did find a pleasant enough windy path down to the beach - the bit without all the asphalt - with some withered looking desert plants that looked a bit odd in this very northern setting but at least were alive, and some nice flower plantings here and there in council planter boxes.

      They're trying.

      But the base line is - an old, faded sea port that's past its sell -by date that just fights against any improvement. Which ...

      ... then planning to head west to Devon to spend a week in a cottage there. Realising we were staying put in Dover for 2 nights, they quickly changed course and made a 4 hour detour to spend the night with us here in Dover. We've had a lovely evening together!

      Tomorrow we plan to catch the ferry to Dunkirk, where we will continue our route up the West Coast of the Continent. Mum and Dad & co, will head west for their long drive back to Devon..

      Pre Travel

      ... on being away for around 2 and a half months and would like to visit Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam as well as Thailand. I have no set in stone plans yet, apart from a hostel booked for the first few nights. I'm just going to go with flow and hopefully see lots of amazing places, meet some great people and eat lots of different types of food, I do love my food.
      The countdown is on.... 45 days 11 Hours and 30 ...

      ... the Valkyrie and on down the M11.

      The M25 was awful as well. There was nearly 6 miles of traffic jams for the Dartford crossing. Tina got a bit nervous when I was filtering through the traffic.

      Once through the toll it was plain sailing from then on and we eventually arrived at the guest house around 6:30 pm.

      Sylvan Cottage is a lovely place to stay on route ...

      ... city, one of the principal tourist attractions of Britain, so empty on a Sunday morning. Makes for great photos though, and we enjoy coffee in an almost deserted Starbucks.

      At 10:30 we approach Christ Church Gate again and are ushered inside the cathedral. Onlookers wonder if we are visiting VIPs or something. I guess it never occurred to them to visit the cathedral during ...
