Not quite the right time zone

So things I didn't expect about Surfers -
thing number one... it's overcast and a little drizzly today (though still
deliciously warm) and thing number two.... I love it here. About a
billion times more than Brisbane. Which is odd coz I'm not a
sittin-on-the-beach-doin-nothin girl. Mind you I have only spent about
5 minutes with my feet in the sand so far.....

My train ride from Brisbane was nice, and not at all eventful. So far I really like
the public transport sys...

into the ocean end it all...

surfers paradise was amazing the weather was spectacular.  henry gave us all an assignment that involved us all constructing a design in the sand.  it was a lot of fun and we all enjoyed ourselves after we lathered up in sunscreen.  the waves were huge and i can see how this place got its name.  i ate some fantastic fish and chips and wondered the town when the sun went down.  i woke early the next morning before 6am and took photos of the sunrise and the ocean kyakers.  it was a nice change ...

Coolangatta to Surfers Paradise Hotel

You can travel up and down the Gold Coast easily, you can take a taxi or rent a car but it is very easy to use the Shullte Bus Services along the Gold Coast, we used Surfside Transfer Services which were reliable, comfortable, friendly and cheap. We stayed at the Watermark Hotel Gold Coast which was quite reasonable, it cost about AU$ 155 a night and we were upgraded to a deluxe room which was nice. We used Gold Coast Hotels foir the discount offer. It was easy to walk to other parts of Surfe...

As an aside we have had several pie products since we have been in Oz. The Aussies do seem to love their pies. I, on the otherhand, have had several bad pie experiences. I have come to the conclusion that you can have any filling you like as long as it has minced beef in it. The first pie I bought I thought was cheese and onion, only to open it up to find nasty minced beef (assume the cheese and onion ...

Still Alive

... and I wasnt far behind. But sitting by the pool had its perks too. haha Gotta love hostels. Oh yeah, mike bought a little football back in byron and since then we have been throwing it around all the time, and anyone we talk to who sees us throw it thinks we are amaricans, apparantly canadians dont know how to play football. Hmm yeah so we did the club crawl thing on wed and sat. It was alright, wed night was alot mor fun i thought. I think it was due to the fact ...

19th & 20th August Miami Beach (Update by Stephen) Sunday 19th Won't be as professional as Suzanne but here goes. Woke to our first morning at Miami Beach here on the Gold Coast and the sky was looking black and ominous - our elderly neighbour said do you think we will get much rain to which I replied we are not called the "rainmakers" for no good reason. As occured when we were last on the Gold Coast 2 years ago it proceed to absolutely ...

... and various other species, but the koalas and kangaroos were definitely our favourites. The koalas didn't do much other than sleep but were very cute, and we fed the kangaroos. It was so hot and they're so used to being fed that most of them didn't even bother to stand up, just looked at us as if to say "if you want to feed me and take a photo you better come over here 'cos I'm not moving!". We did however also see a mum with a joey in her pouch which was ...

... no idea we when we were coming until a few hours prior. Thank God they were happy to see us. Since our arrival, we have toured around town shopping, eating tasty foods and trying to organize ourselves for the trek to Byron Bay. We have also had the pleasure of visiting the Australian Zoo, home of the famous Crocidile Hunter. It was really amazing ...

... everyone else in the city was out powerwalking home too, so it wasn't like a silly tourist was just doing her thing all alone in the dark. I showered once again with my all-purpose bar of soap (my hair feels really funny tonight) and headed downstairs, hoping someone would be watching Neighbours. Success! The only problem was Sarah. She introduced herself last night and I realized immediately that she has some kind of mental problem. Dunno what it is, I feel like torretts ...

Teaching In China: The Run Down N Other Info

... in the land and one that effects me a lot when I move from school to school. I prefer lush greens, be them bamboo forests or rice fields. I simply love riding my bike amongst anything that is green and the south of China is very green for most of the year. The further you go north the less green things become. The grass not only changes colour but becomes less and the moutains change in the same way.

Things just seem ...
