      ... during the Federal Government shut down, so when we take the 505 off the main highway, we eventually see a sign saying that the Observatory is closed. A shame, but we figure we’ll still get some fairly good views, and the scenery should still be nice. We’re on country roads again, and it’s a pleasant drive.

      ... Just a mournful look backwards as the train rolled away, the driver waving to him. Mel's gone to Target to load up on provisions for the long drive to Coeur d'Alene tomorrow, and the even longer drive home to Calgary the next. I'm sad to say that this is my third to last post.       Woke to beautiful sunshine, had lovely cooked breakfast and had time for a sit in the sun on patio for five and stare at the water, nice start to the day. On the road just after 9 travelled about 10 miles down the road to the Sea Lion Caves half of which was in a cave so I wasn't paying for something I could only do half of, there was no way in the world I was going inside a cave to see some animal!
