Theory of relativity

9 days to start

The biggest question that remains open is how hard is Stage #7. Is that feasible to finish it in one day? The maximal height is 2000 meters, but the accumulative accent is probably twice as much.

The only climbs I did were going from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, and from Kiryat Shmona to Nevet Ativ. These are not only "half tall" relatively the Stage #7, but much shorter as well. I believe that the bias here and there are approximately the same - these are supposed to ...

Visit to Holy Land

... for Jerusalem and Bethlehem. We saw and explore the old and new city of Jerusalem, I prayed at the Western wall-the wailing wall. I took pictures inside the site where the remains of Jesus tomb was found. It was a little bit scary when we reached the border going to Bethlehem, our Israeli tour guide was not allowed anymore to crossed the border, because Bethlehem is a Palestenian territory,so we crossed the border ourselves. Then, we ...

... gets blown up in movies with terrorists in Israel..” In Jerusalem I had never had enough time with access to the internet and a map to copy down all her hot-spots, but in Tel Aviv I spent an hour meticulously copying down her landmarks – down to “my grandmother lived here.”

I set out to explore the bits of the city she recommended – her favorite breakfast place, an ally marked “Go here. Be charmed ...

Day 28: Shalom and So Long

... we're both sad to leave, though it will be nice to be home and see our friends, of course. Thanks to those of you who have helped us on the trip, especially Sheri, Joseph, Shana, John, Malka, and Leor. Thank you to those who read this blog, and especially those of you who have commented or sent notes or let me know you enjoyed it, which was very gratifying. I hope you all get to see Israel some day soon, and include me in your travel correspondence.

Day 23: Ben Yehuda and Ben Gurion

... me. Kevin had a staff meeting by teleconference, and I watched more Israeli version of familiar reality shows on Channel 2. Tonight: a cute show with opening credits like "Sex in the City," featuring a former pair from their "Amazing Race," older women from a kibbutz, who spend the day in the Big City (Tel Aviv), getting spray-on tans, learning hip-hop dancing, and DJ'ing at a gay club. Tomorrow is the finale of their "Amazing Race," which maybe I'll get to see.

... filled day of questionable Jesus sites and suffering, it was certainly time for a drink. Angel managed to find the only place that serves alcohol in the Muslim quarter of Jerusalem (where our hotel was) and we set up shop there for the night. It was quite interesting, seeing as it was Friday night, and sundown marks the beginning of the Jewish ...

Easter Sunday in the Holy Land

... and green to being a craggy, rocky desert. Quite different to the desert I saw in Dubai though, more grey and rocky. We actually drove through the Westbank and stopped there for lunch! Something fun about spending Easter lunch at the Westbank! We saw the caves where the deadsea scrolls were discovered. It's funny, you know, somehow it doesn't really feel like Easter. I said "He is risen" a few times this morning, hoping for the ...

... so she visits her family in the US every year. There are no salaries in the K - food, electricity, homes, cars, education, child care are provided for all. Some have outside jobs but their salary goes to the K to be shared on the basis of need - those with more children get more supplies. The original K and this one also were all agricultural because the land was just sand and rocks. Now, that the agriculture is stabilized, many K have gone into factories, tourism, etc. to provide ...

The Enchanting Ride from Amman to East Jerusalem

... immigrated to Israel, he was eager to speak to someone from home. After ten minutes or so I persuaded him that I really did come this far to go to the wedding of the daugher of a friend, so he let me go. With that, it would have been impolite to refuse my friends. After we were thru the barricade the women started to sing an impromptu balad. It went something like; "they put us in an iron cage, Abdullah set us free". It was my favorite part of my trip! I ...

The Old City and Bethlehem

... the Holy Sepulchre. It's been in the same family for generations. If they can find a third way, why can't the Jews and the Muslims do the same? Maybe the keys to the Old City should be held by the Christians? Maybe the Old City should be international territory, outside all jurisdiction but the UN's? East Jerusalem could belong to the Palestinians and become their capital, whilst West Jerusalem would become Israel's capital as it already is... I am a dreamer... In the evening ...
