Good value..we got a really good room - #410 - partial view of Nile but much quieter than rooms with full view. Double bed was super comfy and ensuite bathroom...brekkie is included but just the basics..wifi is 10 egp for the entire stay, only in lobby but good strength...super fast and rel;atively cheap (for middle east) laundry - 1.5 egp per piece. Staff are all nice and not too pushy with the usual tours they offer. We didn't use any..went for feluca trip with someone else...oh there's a great rooftop area with a pool even...not the best but hey, for 100 egp for the room per night, all in all pretty good value..

Great Views, as good as any of the expensive hotels over the river. The room was clean and huge, with a double bed. The facilities are a little rudimentary, but unless you are sick then your really not in your room much anyway. The staff are great and breakfast the standard Egyptian kickstart of egg, bread, tea and juice. Good cheap option for Aswan.

Aswan in the south is the place where we needed to catch the ferry to Wadi Halfa (Sudan), so we got there a few days early to sort out our paper work, and stock up on some treats before hitting the Sudanese desert.

We arrived there on the 22nd, and Petra found us a nice hotel (for Egyptian standards) on the waterfront, with a roof terrace …

After our short holiday in Dahab it was time to move on and what better way than a short 18 hour overnight bus ride, followed by a couple of hours on a train.

Upon arriving at the bus station we were greeted by our driver who from the outset seemed very angry. This proved quiet true as at 4 on the dot he started beeping his horn and …

After our battle through the ferry port we’re met by Mark’s fixer and shuttled off in taxi’s to the Hathor (or Hat-***** as Allison renames it) Hotel in Aswan centre. It’s a pretty cool hotel as far as our budget usually allows. Jules and I get a twin room with air-con and a semi street view which we later would …
