We had a lovely meal last night at the Golden Lion and rested comfortably overnight. I discovered that I have a drug dependence. Sad at 50 but there you have it. ... the old city walls. York Minster an (amazing mediaeval cathedral)was massive and there was no trouble finding it. Robin and I spent about 2 hours exploring it - it is huge and incredibly ornate, another place going back to 12th century (with a view to some old Roman ruins below it at one stage). At one end the stained glass window is being restored and in front of it is a gigantic digital photo of the window. We found a Queen Philippa - not sure whether it was her or her son buried ...
