Back to reality

And so after a long flight - 12+ hours - we arrived in Paris, grabbed a quick drink and then on to Birmingham. Unfortunately, Pat's suitcase decided to stop off in Paris but will hopefully be delivered tomorrow! Back to a sunny UK, with a temperature not much cooler than Hanoi yesterday, where the blossom is in full swing. Lots of memories of a lovely holiday. ...

It was very dark and wet when we woke up to the alarm. Leanne arrived as planned and drove us to the airport. The next lock downstream required some finagling and the assistance of some veteran river cruisers. One upper gate leaked so badly, the water pressure kept the lower gates from opening. After the problem was solved, we proceeded to Bidford-on-Avon and a nice Sunday Dinner at The Bridge Riverside Eaterie. Again, no reservations, but we were seated promptly and got ...

The journey to Cropredy

On this leg of the journey Martin was assaulted by a vicious Hawthorn tree. On one particular corner another barge was moored on the outer edge in the exit path. Martin was steering our barge and as he turned the corner he got the rudder stuck in the silt and lost control of the direction. Fortunately our barge only slightly rammed into the moored one. Stopped for lunch at The Wharfe in Fenny Compton. ...
