Historical Traveler Reviews of The Hampton Inn & Suites Chincoteague - Waterfront Chincoteague Island

Wonderful Hotel

from FHunter
We just returned from a weekend getaway to the Hampton Inn and Suites and what a wonderful time we had. This was our first getaway from 2 children and we certainly chose a great place to stay. The hotel is really attractive and so clean. The staff is very friendly and accomodating, and the rooms were very spacious, clean and attractively decorated. We had a king suite with a side view and we were very impressed with our view. We were concerned when we knew it would be "side view" however our room was on the south side of the hotel and faced out over the little town of Chincoteague and the water view was still great. If your "side view" room is on the north side, your view may be obstructed somewhat by the Comfort suites located beside. This hotel was a perfect location because of the proximity of downtown shops and restaurants. In addition, the drive to the beaches at Asateaugue were very convenient. This hotel was booked for the weekend but we commented that the rooms/hallways were so quiet. At times, we felt we were the only ones staying there ! The continental breakfast was delicious and the lobby and porch overlooking the water made for a great view while eating breakfast. We had a great stay and look forward to a return trip to this great place !

Deserves all the praise

We stayed here early May 2005 and cannot praise the hotel and staff highly enough. The location and the rooms are fantastic and Chincoteague/Assateague wonderful, can't wait to return, although we would not want to go in the summer as we think it would be too busy.

Great hotel

We had a great room overlooking the water, breakfast was nice, staff very friendly and helpful and the pool and fitness room were perfect. Don't look elsewhere, this is definitely the best place to stay on the island!

Wonderful Place to Stay

from Rysa1
My husband and I stayed here for a summer vacation with our son and daughter. Never got around to writing this review, but wanted to chime in with everyone else to say what a wonderful, relaxing stay we had. The room was clean and pretty, the view was amazing, the lobby was open and inviting, especially when eating the yummy breakfast choices, and the staff was helpful. The only warning I would give is that you shouldn't take advantage of the outdoor patio or your balcony to eat - the seagulls are bold and fearless. (This can be very frightening for a small child, especially when their dropped bagel is attacked.) Still, the kids loved the small pool, and from what I could see of the other hotels on island, this is the only place we will ever book for vacations here. My son still talks about going back to "Tincoteague", but when he describes what made it great, he forgets the beach and the horses and the amusements and talks about the hotel!

Best hotel in town

We stayed over new years eve. The hotel is very clean and the rooms in excellent shape. They have a nice view and the hotel is quiet. Our room was next to the lobby, but we didn't hear much. The pool was very clean, just large enough to swim around a circle. Breakfast was very good, everything was fresh and smelled good. All day they provide tea and coffee, it was nice to sit down in the lobby on the sofa after a walk in the cold and have some tea, we could choose from six different sorts.

The only thing that needs improvement was cleaning service. We left the room around 12 pm, which was too late to have the room cleaned.

Simply outstanding

What a treasure of a place. The staff were always smiling, helpful and efficient. Our room had a lovely balcony facing west over the channel for magnificent sunsets and was extremely well appointed. The channel is fascinating because of both recreational and commercial vessels that go by all day and sometimes during the early morning. While my husband read his journals on the balcony, I went fishing with Captain Bill (Barnacle Bills) and had such fun. I caught a shark! Then Captain Bill drove his boat into the channel under the bridge and there was my husband on the balcony reading. To give you the flavor of how the staff works is that I noticed a very large log floating in the channel, definitely a hazard to navigation. Two young men, I believe employees, jumped in a skiff and hauled it around to the side of the hotel, a great feat of navigation in the fast waters. We're going back in October when all those journals have piled up again. Guaranteed, this place will make you smile! Many families. A computer room. Great breakfasts with hot entrees.

A Good Place to get Away (for a few days)

This hotel was great until the last day. It had a great pool, great fitness room, good breakfast in the morning, and a GREAT view of the water. The staff was also friendly and willing to help with whatever you needed. Unfortunately, the day when we were about to pack up and go, we got back to our room after breakfast and there was a massive amount of ants everywhere. nearly all of our luggage had to be shaken out. I don't think it has ever happened before, though, because when we told the person at the front desk, they looked very surprised. But other than that, the overall experience was very good.

Waterfront Luxury

What a delightful place to spend the weekend. This place was worth every penny I spent! Would go here again in a heartbeat!!!! My family also did the Captain Barry's Back Bay cruise that they recommend, it was so much fun and very educational but in a cool way! Beats any Disney attraction! If you going to Chincoteague this is the place to stay!

What a wonderful place to stay! The Hampton Inn and Suites on Chincoteague Island is by far the best hotel I have ever stayed at.

Warm chocolate chip cookies at check-in, huge comfortable room, beautiful sunsets from our balcony, delicious breakfast served in a dining room overlooking the bay. Staff was knowlegible about activities on the island. Your best option on the island!
