One Day Stop

We then took a steady walk back towards the train station. We came across a pizza hut which we both couldn't resist. We had a long day and there was nothing better to fuel it with a nice big pizza.

After eating it was back to the station where we sat and played some cards to pass time. The locals became very interested to what we was playing. We didn't see many westerners so suspect them to stare at us. Something we are use to by now.

5pm and we took a ...

Phitsanulok & Sukothai

... morning we rose early for our visit to Sukothai, located approximately 71km from Phitsanulok. After a visit to a local cafe (complete with BBC World News update and a photo shoot for the cafe's wall of fame) we went in search of the bus station. The mile walk proved to be too much for one of Dave's rather worn looking flip flops, which unfortunately snapped en route. We arrived in Bangkok and spent one night there recovering from our flight and accustomed long stopover in Singapore airport. We knew we were coming back here so could have a proper look around later on. We did have time for a good meal out in Chinatown though that evening. It was like nothing we'd come across before. ... Liz tried to snatch what sleep she could. Arriving in Phitsanulok a full hour late much to Liz's dismay we simply checked in to the first hotel we saw. Great price at only £5 with air-con but you get what you pay for and it was seriously grotty. The duvet was two large towels and flushing the toilet consisted of filling a small bucket. To top it all, I couldn't find the light switch for the bathroom so the room was bright enough ...

... a western day (as we call it) so we went to the central plaza and had a
McDonald’s and went to the cinema (Snow White and the Huntsman) a bargain price
of 2.50 for the best seats. Before heading home in the evening we popped into a
big supermarket and treat ourselves to some cheese and nice bread which we had
been craving for days and cannot find anywhere as it is not something they
generally eat.

Next stop bus to Sukhothai.
