... really enjoyed their company and were looking forward to seeing Peter again. Peter called up Patrick I, who teaches at Liu Gao, and they both came over to have lunch with us.

We laughed and had fun for over an hour. Peter came about 260 miles on a bus to be with us. Peter now teaches at a middle school in Guangzhou. He has a pretty good deal. He doesn't have any Saturday classes and he gets off school Fridays about 4:00 PM. He also only has about 45 in a class. ...

... the flower and bird market. The flower part of the market was a lot more than just flowers. There were painting, pottery and aquarium fish of many different kinds. The bird part of the market had all kinds of pet birds including chickens. They also had rabbits, lizzards and even a few pet squirrles which were different from any squirrles I had ever seen before. Gene and I spent the morning visiting Liujiang Middle School, about a 40 minute drive south of Liuzhou, in the county of Liujiang. Annie, a Chinese English teacher at this school, invited us to attend and make a presentation to two of her classes. She studied English in Cincinnati in 2011. A former student of hers, Kevin, picked us up and drove us to the school, along with Annie. He picked Kevin for his English name because he liked the basketball player Kevin Durant. When Gene ...

The biggest surprise for the Springfield students occurred when they ask how long is your school day. When they were told that Liu Gao students go from 7:20 AM-10:20 PM. the Springfield students were shocked. The Springfield teacher commented to her students that Liu Gao is a special school that is one of the top in all of China. I don't think she realized that most of the students in China put in these same hours.
